LUCY STUART TAYLOR MELENDY FALLON - Lucy Stuart Taylor Melendy, 88, died March 12, 1999 at Churchill Community Hospital. A native of Chatsworth, Georgia, she was born May 11, 1910, to Issac N. and Ellen (Roberts) Stuart and lived in Fallon since 1918, coming from Oregon. Mrs. Melendy was a retired rural mail carrier. She was a member of the Harmony social club, the Cloverleaf Club and was chairman of the Harmon District Election Board. Her husband, "Tip" Melendy, daughter, June Wilson Machado, son, Wallace Taylor, brother, Harland Stuart, sisters, Allene Baumann and Unadel Dodge, and a grandson, preceded her in death. Surviving are brother, Earl Stuart of Fallon, brother, George Harry Stuart, and stepdaughter, Alice Bradshaw, both of California, stepdaughter, Patty Phillips of Reno, 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation is scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Family Funeral Home. A funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial at the Fallon Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established with the Churchill County Museum Building Fund, 1050 S. Maine St., Fallon 89406.
