Virginia Pressley

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove for Virginia Pressley of Culp Creek. She died Oct. 12 of congestive heart failure at age 78. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

She was born Aug. 13, 1928, in Cherokee County, North Carolina to Jarred and Louise Keatly Hass. She married Whitt G. Pressley on March 16, 1946, in Murray County, Georgia. He died May 7, 2003.

She had worked as a straw boss at Ellison's bean fields in Pleasant Hill.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Hosler of Cottage Grove and Joyce Coday of Eugene; a son, David of Brice Creek; four brothers, Jarred Hass of Cottage Grove, Joe Hass of Creswell, James Hass of Prineville and LeRoy Hass of Texas; two sisters, Mary Teeters of Sacramento and Elva Harper of Tacoma; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A daughter, Rita-Ann, died previously.

Burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene.
