BOLL WEEVIL LEFT IN MURRAY COUNTY

From the Covington News, Feb 22

What is believed to be the first sign of the recently unearthed plot to scatter the boll weevil over Georgia came to light at Cisco, near the Tennessee line today, when a genuine boll weevil was picked up after the Louisville and Nashville railroad train from Jacksonville passed through.  The insect was found by Hon. J. J. Bates, who grew cotton in the West several years, and knows what the pest is as perfectly as a Georgian knows a house fly.  Mr. Bates has the specimen on exhibition at his office, and the discovery has created a sensation among the people of the place.
