William Williams was a veteran of the War of 1812.
He was living in Putnam County, Georgia when Georgia opened the Land
Lottery for North Georgia first to Veterans of the War of 1812.
He was granted 300 acres just across the river from what is now
Whitfield County and Murray County. He is buried on the land at
Williams Cemetery.
