| Founded in 1924, it was the state's last to be created, taken from Houston and Macon counties on July 8 of that year. It is the namesake of the peach, Georgia's most famous crop.
Since its establishment, Milton and Campbell counties have been merged into Fulton.
Its county seat is Fort Valley, Georgia.
