[The Daily Constitution, Atlanta Georgia Oct. 20, 1876 - Submitted by Shauna Williams]

From the Fort Valley, Ga, News. We are pained again this week to chronicle the death of another one of Mr. W. B. Brook's children. Little Howard, aged 8 years, died of diphtheria on Thursday morning last at 2 a.m , and was buried that afternoon. This is the second child Mr. Brooks has lost in the past ten days, and he has still another, little Wiley Lou, dangerously sick with the same disease. Indeed is, his afflictions great, and his friends most deeply sympathize with him (10/12/1882 Atlanta Constitution transcribed by JRice)

Death From the Monroe, Ga.. _, Judge N. W. Newnan died in Forsyth last Thursday after an illness of several days. He was one of the oldest citizens of Forsyth, having reached or perhaps passed his three score and ten years. For some time past he has not been in good health, though the sickness which proved fatal did not attack him till a week or so before his death. Judge Newnan was a native of Virginia,, but for many years had resided in Forsyth. He was well known to the people of the county, although he was of a modest and retiring disposition. He had many excellent traits of character, and was well liked and highly respected by all who knew him. His immediate family consisted of his wife and daughter, though he has three married daughters, Mrs. Perdue, of Barnesville; Mrs. Comer, of Griffin, and Mrs. Andrews, of Macon. His funeral took place Friday from the Methodist church, and was conducted by Rev. Messrs. Thigpen and Ryburn. (10/12/1882 Atlanta Constitution transcribed by JRice)
