T.U.P.Charlton, p.27; Chatham Co., Jan. 1806
Henrietta B. Jones, as Administrator of Mrs. Henrietta Horskins, claimed 1/4 of her estate, as an heir. Zachariah Horskins, late husband of Henrietta Hoskins, became admin. of estate of Henrietta B. Jones. Peter Henry Morel, claiming to be nearest kin and surviving heir, filed suit for an accounting of H.B. Jones' estate. John Morel also mentioned.

Dr. James Box Young, son of William Young, married 1791 Elizabeth Clay; He died 1801 leaving widow and son. The son died in 1801, a minor. Mrs. Young died 1804 and named Rev. Joseph Clay, her brother to be Admin. General James Jackson, who married a sister of Dr. Young, also applied as Admin. of her estate.

Thomas B.M.M'Kinnon, Glenn Co., Ga. intestate; no heirs in Ga. His father was formerly of Antiqua. His sister, Lydia Haven, Sloanestreet, Middlesex, England, [who mar. [1 Stephen Haven who died in England, [2] Charles M. Haven who died in Nassua, New-Providence, leaving negroes in Georgia], filed as an heir. Alexander C. Wylly of Glenn Co., Ga. also filed as "one of nearest kin." A brother of Thomas, Charles M'Kinnon, lived in Bahamas.

John Morel, the elder, willed the Island of Ossabaw to his 3 sons; Peter Henry, John and Bryan Morel[an infant]. The guardians of Bryan were: William and James Bryan. Most of the Island was divided in March 1788, but one part was not divided.

James Bullock of Bryan Co. died 20 Dec. 1790, leaving widow, Dinah and 2 daughters: Ann and Abigail[ one of whom married Matthew Albritton]. Widow died May 1816 and appointed executors: Alexander, Andrew and James Bird.

William Zackariah and Ann Coxe emigrated to Georgia ca. 1798. Ann was the daughter of Abram Coxe of Fauquier Co., Va. and was about 21 years old when she moved to Wilkes Co., Ga. in 1798. She died 1803. William Coxe had a daughter, Frances Wright.

Alex Irwin, uncle, gave at time of the Treaty of Shoulderborne, a negro girl, Hannah, age ca.4, to his niece, Jane Irwin [also age ca. 4 yrs.]daughter of General Jared Irwin [who died 1820]. Hannah was sold 1823 at Saundersville, Washington Co. General John Irwin, son of General Jared, also mentioned.

Benajah Smith, uncle, deeded 6 June 1812 to Benajah S. Wilson, a slave and her 2 children. The slaves had been purchased ca. 1805 from Abner Wellborn, and were for the use of the family of Littlebury Wilson, father of Benajah. Mrs. Eliza Wilson, wife of Littlebury who sold one of the slaves in 1829 to Johnson Wellborn. Benajah Wilson still under age.

Saunders Nobles, Edgefield Co., S.C. deeded 25 Dec. 1786, 3 slaves to the children [then 5 in number] of Nancy Jones, after the death of Leonard Nobles. Dennis Nobles, eldest son of Nancy Jones. Mary Jones born ca. 1794 {after date of deed} was a child of Nancy Jones, claimed her share of slaves. Mary mar. John Hogg.

Judith Ann Lehiffe, wife of Maurice Lehiffe, Edgefield Co., S.C. sold 21 Feb. 1812, a slave to John Hunter. She mar. [2] to ____Bowers who sold slave to Barney M. Kemin of Richmond Co., Ga. Mrs. L. was daughter of Mrs. Holmes of Edgefield [who was daughter of George Galphin and a black woman].

John Fox, a Loyalist, returned to Georgia after the Revolution and went into partnership in 1792 with his brother-in-law, James Spann, a Whig, under the name of Jas. Spann & Co. in Augusta, Ga. Spann died 1794, and firm became John Fox and & Co. Mrs. Spann, sister of John Fox, moved around 1796 to the S.C. plantation of Fox. Spann left 4 children [1 son and 3 dtrs] . Youngest child, James Jr., ca 5 or 6 yrs. old in 1794; he returned in 1810 to Augusta.

Charles Phillips of Harris Co. died 1836 , leaving children and widow, Ann who mar. [w] in 1840 to Ambrose Dovie; planned to move to Ky.

Edward S. Meadows, Harrol's Dist., Upson Co., orphan son of James Meadows who died "many years ago" in Putnam Co., Ga., claimed that he drew land in 1825/6 in Troup Co., now Meriwether Co., but when State issued grant in 1834, it was made to "James Meadows' orphan". A Priscilla Meadows mentioned.

John Langdon loaned in 1801, slaves to his daughter, Nancy Martin , then a widow and the mother of: John L. Martin, Catherine Martin who mar. Henry English, Eleanor Martin, who mar. Jonathan Nutt , Morris Martin, and May Martin who mar. Joseph Frost.
Nancy mar.(2) in 1802, Hiram Buckley (who died July 1831), and died 1819.

George W. Dillingham died 1834, leaving widow, Lucy E. (dau. of Harriet C. Tichnor) and son, George, Jr. John Dillingham appointed admin of Geo. W. Dillingham, Sr. estate. William Dillingham ( brother of John), of Westchester, Penn. Lucy E. Dillingham mar.(2) William D. Carnes.

Nancy Brown, died 1829, owning land in Troup Co, now Meriwether Co. and leaving heirs: Lucretia, who mar . Henry Knight (d. ca. 1841), Sarah, who mar. John C. Willingham (they moved from State by 1842), Nancy (d. ca. 1841), who mar. Colom Copland, Elizabeth who Mar. Stephen Vickers and moved over 20 yrs ago out-of-state, William's children: Elizabeth, Rebecca, George, William; widow, Charity.

Joshua Calahan and his wife, Sarah, gave ca. 1838 a negro to Jepthah and Elizabeth Harrison, minor children of Samuel Harrison who had mar. daughter of Sarah's by previous marriage. Sarah's other children: A.J. Williford (brother-in-law of Samuel Harrison) and David Williford.

Leonard Fretwell, Putnam Co., Ga. made will 14 Apl. 1820, naming son: John; daughters: Martha and Mary who mar.before 1820 Wm. Choice (who d. before 1846); grandson: Leonard F. Choice, Putnam Co.

James Beal, Richmond Co., willed his property, in trust, to his grandchildren: Elizabeth Tankersly Crafton and Samuel Bennett Crafton. Trustees were to be : Robert Beal, Bennett Crafton and Walton Harris. Robert Beal was only one to qualify; he died June 1840 and his widow, Martha, mar. Nathan Beal. Bennett Crafton then qualified as trustee and sued Nathabn Beal and wife in Muscogee Co. for control of property.

Wiley Bryant appointed Jan. 1826, by Putnam Co. Ct. Ordinary, as guardiabn of Orra Ann Weathers, minor, orphan Daughter of Jesse Weathers. Orra mar. ca. Jan. 1835, Littleberry Owens.

Camilla Liptrot, daughter of Aquilla Liptrot, widow of Hopkins Liptrot, mar. (2) 1834 to Henry Talton. She made a pre-marriage agreement and put property in trust of John Liptrot. Talton mar (2) Narcissa J.______, and died before 1846 leaving 2 children; one by each marriage.

Maria Louisa Thompson, daughter of Jeremiah Thompson and granddaughter of Samuel Thompson, mar.ca. 1841 Elijah Glass. John D. Snell was app. guardian of Maria in 1838, in place of her father, Jeremiah (who evidently had died). Snell was dismissed when she mar.

James McGinnis, Sr., made will 10 Dec. 1838 in Gwinnett Co.; heirs: wife, Elizabeth; children: James , Stephen, Margaret, Elizabeth Sailors, Keziah Fitzpatrick, Nancy Jenkins, William, Aelx, and John.

Vol. 1, p.552; Gaainsville Sup. Ct., (Hall Co.) 1846
Drury Leadbetter sold slaves in 1790 to Buckner Harris who sold them in 1804 to Washington Leadbetter (son of Drury) in Wilkes Co. Drury died shortly after 1790 and his widow mar.(2) James M'Cleskey(died before 1846).Williamson Leadbetter mentioned.

Vol. 2, Milledgeville Sup. Ct. ( Wilkes Co.) May 1847 (See also Vol. 7, p.512, 1849).
Mrs. Ann S. Rakestraw, wife of Gainham L. Rakestraw, put her property, via will, in trust for her husband. After she died, he had a child out of wedlock-- Sarah Ann Wells, who mar. Wm. L. Edmondson. By an 1826 Act of Georgia Legislature, her name was changed to Sarah Ann Rakestraw and she was declared "legitimate".

Reddick Pierce, who mar. dau. of Hargrove Arthur of S.C., mortgaged in 1838 some slaves to Leroy M. Wiley. Reddick's children: Lovick W. Pierce, Louisa who mar. Robt. Robt. D.Walker, Mary Ann C. who mar. Laughlin McKinnon, William H., John W. aand Sarah A Pierce (last 3 minors), claimed title to slaves by will of Hargrove Arthur.

Eleanor Harris (widow of Jeremiah Harris), Houston, mar. Col. Edmund Blake, Bibb Co. Her brother, Nathan H. Beall (see Vol. 7, p. 438). Samuel R. Blake, son of Edmund.

Vol. 3, p.422; Franklin Co. Superior Court, 1847
William Turk, Sr., died 1794, leaving widow, Margaret; sons; John, James and William, Jr., dau.: Mary. Heirs agreed to settlement in 1843. Wm. Jr. was in control of estate. In 1847, Theodore Turk , a grandson of Wm.Sr. (son ? of John or James) obtained administrator papers and sued Wm. Jr. for accounting of estate.

Vol. 3, p.513; Wilkes Co. 1847
Jacob Bull, father-in-law of Jones Kendrick, and grandfather of Esther Caroline Kendrick (dau. of Jones), gave a slave in 1814 to Jones for use of Esther, then a small child (around 4 or 5 years old). Jones had been married 12 years, and made his will, as he was going into the army soon. Esther mar. John W. Carter. In 1847, suit re slave; Wm. and Mildred T. Bull testified.

Andrew McNeeley, died before 2 July 1810. Widow, Esther McNeely, moved 1811 from plantation. Son-in-law, John Whigham. Granddtr. Mrs. turner. John Bates, Admin. in Mar. 1846.

Vol 5, p341; Crawford Co., 1848
Ebenezer G. Duffey, convicted of murder in Jones Co., and sentenced to penitentiary on May 2 1827, deeded 14 July 1827 some land to his father, Daniel Duffey (d.1838). Daniel's son, Jesse, died 1839. By 1848, Ebenezer's widow, Catherine, had married Stephen G. Cotton. John Wesley Duffey, son of Ebenezer and Catherine.

Vol.5,p.456; Cass Co.1848
James G. Stallings of Cass county(formerly lived in Richmond Co.), died 16 Aug. 1847 in Augusta at home of John H. Mann ("a relative by marriage"). Hannah Mann, wife of John, was a cousin of James Stallings and of dennis dent. Cousins: charlotte Stallings, Harriet, wife of Geo. W. Terrentine and Catherine Beall. Nephew Capt. Elias Stallings, Keziah Stallings. Jas Stallings' half-sister, Eliza, mar. Rinson D. Beall (children: James S. Beall, Valinda Towns, and Eliza Townsend). Others mentioned: Jas. Dent, Wm. Beall, Jane Jones. Dennis Dent's mother (of Tuscaloosa, Ala.) was half-sister , on "father's side of Jas. G. Stallings. Rinson D. Beall was a brother of Dennis Dent's wife.

Armstead Bomer, Sn., died ca. 1840, leaving widow, children:A. Bomer, John Bomer, Elizabeth Bomer, S. Bomer, 3 dtrs. who mar. Parker M. Rice, Thos. S. Rice, and Robt. McMillan, and Frances Bomer, widow of E. Bomer (son).

Archibald Odam, Pulaski Do., d. 18___, leaving widow, Elizabeth; grandchildren: WmW.C. Odam and Martha Townsend (children of James Odam dec'd); James M. Odam, A.H. Odam, susan Donaldson, Penelope Shannon, Hannah Hodges, Douglas W. Odam and Sarah Larkin (children of Archibald Odam, Jr. dec'd).

Vol. 6, p. 564; Baldwin Co. 1849
Catherine Jewell, widow of Thomas Jewell, made a pre-marriage agreement 17 Feb 1810 with John Neves, who died 1828, with no issue. Catherine sued in 1829 Capt. Richard Rowell, admin. of John Neves, bacause John had willed 1/2 estate to Geo. W. Rowell, son of Capt. Richard. Catherine mar.(2) in 1835 to Wm. F. Scott (who d. between 1846 and 1849). No Issue. She died 1844. Three first cousins of Catherine sued in 1849 as heirs. They were Shimei Merritt, James Green and wife, and Elizabeth Hunter.

Vol. 7, p.20;Pulaski Co. June 1849
Allen Tooke, made will 20 Sept. 1837 and died same year, leaving widow, Julia Ann; sons: Furney F., James E., and Wm. Joseph Tooke (minors).in 1841, the widow mar. (2) Timothy Mason. Sons sued in 1847 when they were of age. Allen's sister, Mrs. Louisa Hadnot.

Vol.7, p.76; Harris Co. July 1849
Randal Jones died leaving an estate of $250,000. Children: Wm. N. Jones, Eliza Dowdy, Polly Jackson, Sarah Howard, Katy Arnold, Luvany Jones, and Frances Jones.

Mrs. Rebecca Bostwidk died 13 Mar. 1834 leaving sisters: Tabitha J. Groves, Eleanor Harris (see Fol. 3, p.345 above), Mary Hodges; brother, Nathan H. Beall; nieces: Verlinda R. Burton and Margaret Bostwick (who mar. Jas. D. Frierson).

Elizabeth E. Buckley made in 1824 a pre-marriage agreement in Chatham Co., With Robert D. Papot. Son Samuel N. Papot.

Vol.8, p. 201; Monroe Co. 1849
Reuben M. Rainey mar. 1811 or 1812, Catharine Cleaton (dau. of Thos. Cleaton of Mecklenberg Co., Va.) in Va. Moved that year to Ga. and in 1815/16 to Greene Co. Ga. and in 1821 to Jasper Co., Ga. (2 witnesses claimed they knew him in 1817 in Jasper Co.). Thos. Cleaton made his will 25 Feb 1818 whick was probated Mar. 1818 in Mecklenberg Co., Va. Reuben Rainey went to Va. and brought back a slave which he sold in 1828. Eliz. King, a sister of Reuben. Catharine died before 1849.

Vol. 8, 302; Franklin Co. 1849
Samuel Pruitt mar. 1814 to Mrs. Keziah Connelly. He died 1845, leaving son, John W. Pruitt, who was admin of Samuel's estate. Keziah, by her first husband, had: Dempsey Connelly( of Franklin Co. 1849), Lavina Connelly who mar. Wm. Neal, and Sarah Connelly who mar. Robt. Burton.

Vol. 10, p.471; Cobb Co. 1851
John Wingo, Spartanburg Dist., S.C., in 1818 gave a slave to his dau. Jincy (or Nancy) West, wife of John West who moved to Ga. in 1835 or 1836. Jincy died in 1830. Her father still alive at that time. Four West children(only 3 named): Harriet M. who mar. Jas W. Yarborough, Jane who mar.Richard B. Higgins, and Hester who mar. John H. Higgins.
