Emily Irene Kelly received a decree of divorce from Jim Kelly in a hearing before Judge Givens, following the entering of a default by the defendant, through failure to appear. Her maiden name, Emily Irene McKinney was restored to her by court order. She charged cruelty.

The case of Edna B. Piper vs. Ira T. Piper for divorce, charging cruelty, was taken under advisement by Judge Givens. According to the complaint, the defendant accused the wife of being a cigarette fiend and of associating with strange men.
