Lois Ann Honstead, 57, of Caldwell, born Nov. 1, 1946, in
Rupert, Idaho, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, in Boise of
complications due to lung cancer treatments. Lois married Loren
Honstead on March 28, 1969, in Elko, Nev. They made their first
home in Moscow until they finished school. Lois atten-ded Minico
High School, Ricks College, University of Idaho where she
received her degree - a bachelor of science, elementary
education with a minor in English. Lois also had additional
credits from Idaho State University, Brigham Young University,
Boise State University, Northwest Nazarene University and
Albertson College of Idaho. Lois was currently teaching extended
resources at Parkridge Elementary School. Lois has been a
teacher since approximately 1975. She has taught kids from
kindergarten all the way up to eighth grade and enjoyed almost
every moment of it. Lois was an avid quilter, seamstress,
crocheter, embroiderer and collector of many different types of
dolls. She was also active in whatever her children and
grandchildren were doing at the time. Lois was a member of the
Nampa First United Methodist Church, Eta Chapter of Delta Kappa
Society, National Education Association, Idaho Education
Association, and an unofficial honorary member of the Caldwell
Lions Club. Lois is survived by her husband, Loren Honstead of
Caldwell; father, Tad Abo of Heyburn; sisters, Carole Kawamura
of Pocatello, Betty Reed of West Valley, Utah, and Sharon Bryan
of Twin Falls; and brother, Scott Abo of Heyburn; her daughters,
Karla (Brian) Brokaw of Hillsboro, Ore., and Jodi Honstead of
Middleton; grandsons, Zachary Honstead of Caldwell, Bryce
Apodaca of Houston, Texas, and Seamus and Brennan Brokaw of
Hillsboro, Ore.; and multiple adopted family members throughout
the communities in which she lived, taught and loved. Lois was
preceded in death by her mother, Tsuyu Abo. Funeral services
will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Nampa First
United Methodist Church, 2717 12th Ave. Road, Nampa. Any
donations should be made to the Multiple District 39 Lions Sight
& Hearing Foundation, where her eyes were donated after her
passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Dakan Funeral

(Age 66) Julis Enger, 66, a former well known Sunshine miner and millman, died last week at Caldwell. The family has been residing at Notus, Idaho. He came to Idaho from North Dakota and had been employed at the Sunshine in the mine and mill for some 16 years. He retired about three years ago. Survivors are his wife, Orlin at Notus; a son, Bob Robertson, Caldwell; a daughter, Dorla Smith, Boise; eight grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers in the North Dakota and Minnesota areas.
