Karl Altenhein
Karl Altenhein was born 1824, came to the United States in 1854,
first to New York, moved from there to New Jersey, moved later to Rock
Island, Illinois and finally to Quincy. He married Anna Schlüter. His
wife was from Dibrock, Herford, Westphalia. Karl was engaged for years
in farming in Melrose, then bought a farm in Missouri, where he farmed
and finally came to Ellington in this county, where he cultivated a
farm. Now the aged couple has settled in Quincy and enjoys a well-
deserved rest.
