Caspar Dittmeyer
Caspar Dittmeyer was born in Bavaria in 1818, and his wife Eva nee
Klebenspiess, also born in Bavaria, came to this county from Bedford,
Pennsylvannia and settled on Mill Creek in Melrose, where Dittmeyer was
engaged in farming for many years until he died in 1880; his wife
departed this life in 1888. Johann Dittmeyer, a son of the couple was
born in Bedford, Pennsylvannia April 3, 1844 and came to this county
with his parents, later moved to this city and served on the police
force. Then he returned to Melrose and engaged in farming for many years
until his death on March 23, 1908. His wife is still living here, as are
his sons Casper, Johann, Eduard, and Franz and his daughters Mrs. Franz
Ohnemus in Ellington; Mrs. Georg Geiger and Mrs. Otto Rothgeb in Quincy;
and Mrs. Johann Rezinsky in Chicago.
