Georg Wilhelm Schraag


Georg Wilhelm Schraag was born December 18, 1816, in Königreich, Württemburg, came to the United States in 1849, moved first to Pennsylvannia where was occupied several years as a tanner and then came to Quincy in 1843. Here he married in 1845 Eve Schuchmann; she was born February 15, 1823 in Lichtenberg, Hesse, and came to Quincy in 1843. Five years the couple ran a boarding inn and for five years a grocery store; later Schraag ran a nursery. Georg W. Schraag died March 23, 1891; the widow still lives here, as do three sons; Louis, Georg II, and August Schraag.
