Jacob Ebert Jacob Ebert was born November 24, 1827 in
Württemberg, came to Quincy in 1853, where for many years he was engaged
in his trade of building contractor carrying out stone work. When
Governor John Wood built his mansion, Jacob Ebert was engaged as foreman
of the construction. In Quincy, Jacob Ebert married Marie Schäfer. His
wife was born July 28, 1836 in Hesse and came to Quincy more than half a
century ago with her parents Wendel Schäfer and his wife Eva nee Daum.
Jacob died November 25, 1882. His wife and several children are still
living in Quincy.
