Paul Konantz


Paul Konantz was born August 16, 1811 in Hohenzollern, came to Quincy in the spring of 1838 where he married on May 9, 1843 to Wilhelmine Schiltheis, born 1821 in Steinau, Hesse Darmstadt. He was occupied for many years running a grocery and a wood shop and died in 1877; his wife died 20 years later in 1897. The oldest son to the couple born in 1846 is Wilhelm H. Konantz who runs here a big saddle business; the other living children are: Dr. Karl F. Konantz in St. Paul, MN; Johann Konantz, a baker in Ithaca, New York; Mrs. Wilhelmine Smith, Chicago; Mrs. Henrietta ??, Oak Park, Cook County, Illinois; Eduard and Adolph in the saddle business in St. Paul, MN; and Mrs. Anna Lindley, wife of the postmaster in Urbana, Illinois.
