DISWOOD
Alexander County/Illinois Genealogy Trails
Diswood is located between Tamms
and Olive Branch. A Post Office was established at Diswood March
5, 1895 and discontinued September 29, 1917. It was a lumber
camp.
The Sandy Creek Baptist Church and the Egyptian Community Unit
School is located in the area of this early settlement. The
school serves all of Alexander County, except for the Cairo
School District and the Shawnee South Grade School at McClure.
