HAZELWOOD CEMETERY
Alexander County/Illinois Genealogy Trails

The name of this cemetery is also spelled Hazlewood. There are over 246 graves in this cemetery. It is no longer open for burials because of so many unmarked graves. If you have records with birth and death dates, I would be glad to include them. This is a very historic cemetery with at least twenty-seven Civil War Veterans buried here and many of the pioneers of the Hazelwood and Elco communities. An effort is being made to maintain this cemetery. If you are interested in helping with the upkeep, contact Linda Cox, 7500 Route 37 South, Marion, IL. 62959.
Directions: This cemetery is located between Tamms and Elco on what use to be called the Old Elco Road and now called Newell Road. Turn west off of Route 127 and go to the 5th driveway on the right. Do not cross the bridge. The cemetery is on the hillside behind the property.

corrections are credited to her. They are marked with a

Information was also obtained from obituaries and other persons
and records.
