Urbandale, IL.--JAMES MADISON ICE, age 72 died at his home in Urbandale, Thursday (November 19, 1953) at 5 pm after a long illness. For many years, Mr. Ice was an employee of the Illinois Lumber Manufacturing Co and a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Stella: four daughters, Mrs. Martha Minton of Paducah, Mrs. Stella Mittler of Hammond, Ind; Mrs. Florence Miller of Pekin and Mrs. Audrey Hoof of San Francisco, Ca; four sons William of Cairo, James and Frank of Miller City and John Ice of Tamms; also 24 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and other relatives. The body is at Karcher’s Funeral Home, where friends may call. Funeral Services will be held at the Community Chapel in Willard at 1:30 pm with Rev. Kemper assisted by Rev. S.H. Nance of Cairo officiating. Interment will be made in the Baumgard Cemetery. Karcher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements....donated by Judy Simpson
Hillsboro, IL.--RUBY HARVELL ICE,
79, of Thonotosassa, Fla., formerly of Tamms and Hillsboro, died
Saturday, Nov. 18 at University Village Nursing Home, Tampa, Fla.
Survivors: husband, John; three sons, Phillip Ice of Thonotosassa,
Fla., Jerry Ice of Vera, Okla. and Gary Ice of Denver, Colo.; two
daughters, Carol Joselyn of St. Paul, Minn. and Phyllis Holloway of
Hillsboro; six grandchildren; four sisters, Viola Twente, Hazel Newell
and Zula Melvin, all of Tamms and Freda Miller of Chaffee, Mo.; two
brothers, Plez Harvell of Tamms and Charles Harvell of Elco; and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Miller City, IL.--MRS. STELLA B. ICE, age 76 of 411 South Oakland, Carbondale, Il, died Friday (December 29, 1968) at 10:45 am at Doctor’s Hospital, after an illness of two years. Mrs. Ice was born August 26, 1891 the daughter of the later Robert Brandon and Martha DeWeese Simpson in Bowling Green, Ky. Preceded in death by her husband, James Madison Ice, in 1953, a son and daughter, she is survived by three sons, James Ice, Miller City; Frank Ice, Cairo, and John Ice, Springfield; four daughters Mrs. Joe Minton, Carbondale; Mrs. Florence Miller, Blue Island; Mrs. Stella Mae Thompson, Bell Gardens, California; and Mrs. Audrey Hood, Pascagoula, Ms; one sister, Mrs. Novella Bauer, Cairo and one brother, Mr. Walter Thomas Simpson, Manteno. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 pm at the University Baptist Church Carbondale, where she is a member, with the pastor, The Rev. Napp Grande officiating. Interment will be in the Baumgard Cemetery, Miller City. Visitation is after 4 pm today at the Huffman Funeral Home in Carbondale....donated by Judy Simpson.
Cairo, IL.--WILLIAM B. “BILL” ICE, age 54, a resident of 727 35th Street, died at 2:45 am Sunday, January 20, 1963 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Cairo, Il. He had been a patient for three days. Mr. Ice was born in Alexander County and had lived in Cairo for the past 28 years. He was a maintenance superintendent of the Cairo River and Rail Warehouses. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Freda Ice; one daughter Mrs. Bill J. Gwaltney of Cairo, two sons, Bill Ice of Leroy, Il and Mike Ice of Cairo: his mother Mrs. Stella Ice of Carbondale, Il; 4 sisters, Mrs. Florence Miller of South Chicago, Il., Mrs. Stella May Mittler of Rockford, Il, Mrs. Martha Minton of Carbondale and Mrs. Audrey Hood of Selma, Alabama; three brothers, James of Cache, Il, Frank of Cairo and John Ice of Springfield; two grandsons, one granddaughter and other relatives. Friends may call at the Joe B. Berbling Funeral Chapel after 4 pm today. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 pm at the Joe Berbling Funeral Chapel on 8th street with the Rev. Al Slayter, pastor of the First Southern Baptist Church of Cairo and Joe Wood, officiating. Interment will be in the Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge. Cairo, IL.--MRS. HORACE EDGAR (LENORE BELLE) INCE died early yesterday morning, March 3, 1910. She was born Lenore Belle Comings June 25, 1858 to Judge Alfred Comings in Mechanicsburg, Ill. The Comings family moved to Cairo, Ill in 1862. Lenore married Horace Edgar Ince on her twenth birthday, June 25, 1878, in Cairo, Ill. Her husband and three sons survives her, Elmer, Frank, and James. Lenore died of a stroke. She had been ill since December, 1909. Mrs. Ince, besides being from one of the oldest families in Cairo,was a life long member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. She was buried in Villa Ridge Cemetery. Tamms, IL.--ANNA MAE IRBY, 93, formerly of Tamms, died at 8:45 p.m., Wednesday Jan. 25, 2006, at the Day Star Care Center in Cairo. She was born Jan. 16, 1913, in Elco, to Fred and Cordelia (Oller) Heater.She married Robert Irby; he preceded her in death. She was the oldest member of the Tamms Community Church, having belonged for 78 years. She and her husband owned and operated Irby's Grocery in Tamms for 50 years. She was a member of the Tamms Senior Citizens and the kitchen band. She is survived by four nieces, Margaret Ann Grace of Villa Ridge, Melinda Bigham of Tamms, Dinah Washow of Carpentersville, and Pat Ballard of Lexington, Ky.; one nephew, Larry Rowland of Manlis; one sister-in-law, Beulah Ford of Tamms; and other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Mildred Grace; and two brothers, Norman 'Duke' Heater and Jesse 'Knox' Heater. Services will at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, in Crain Funeral Home in Ullin, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery in Dongola. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin. Unity, IL.--Death of William Ireland--MR. WILLIAM IRELAND died at Unity about ten days ago. He had lived in Alexander County more than forty-three years and was one of the oldest citizens of the county. He was seventy-seven years of age last April. He was born in West Virginia, April 15th, 1815. He came to Alexander County in 1849 and soon settled in Santa Fe, where he lived until 1877 when he removed to Hodges Park. He was by trade a carpenter. He married Minnie Hutton, in Guernsey, Ohio, in 1835, by whom he had ten children, eight of whom grew up to maturity and six or seven of them are still living. His sons Jessie M., John F., and W. W. Ireland reside in Alexander County and Alonzo Ireland lives in Commerce, Mo. He has several married daughters still living. Mr. Ireland was a very steadfast and consistent member of the Methodist church and, we believe, a local preacher. He was during the later years of his life a Justice of the Peace. Kissimmee, FL--JAMES RANEY IRWIN,
70, 3250 Rustic Drive, Kissimmee, died Monday (Sept 15, 1986). Born in
Fayville, Ill., he moved to Kissimmee from Baldwin, Ill., in 1984. He
was a locksmith and a Presbyterian. He was a member of the VFW and the
Illinois State Retirees. Survivors: wife, Evelyn: step-daughters,
Connie Lattina, Knoxville, Tenn., Kristin Beltz, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia;
daughter, Laura Lee Conway, St. Louis, Mo.; brother, Fred, Cutler,
Ill.; sister, Hattie Holm, Keystone, W.Va. Fisk Funeral Home, St.
