Tamms, IL.--NAOMI RABY, 90, of Tamms died at 7:05 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She was born Nov. 29, 1914 in Union County, Ill., daughter of John Grover and Winnie Iola Groves Vancil. She was married October 17, 1936, in Jonesboro, Ill to Walter W. Raby. He preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2002. Mrs. Raby was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rayford and Martha Raby of Brighton, IL and Ben and Virginia Raby of Alton, IL; three granddaughters, Lisa Delaney of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Heather Dohack of Imperial, Mo. and Tara Murphy of Alton; and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Almeda Dillon of McClure, IL. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9 at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms with Rev. Bill Fox officiating. Tamms, IL.--RANA RABY, 97, of Elco, died Monday, July 8, 1991 at her home. She was born Sept. 18, 1893 in Sparta, IL, daughter of David and Lula King Walters. She married Charles Clarence Raby, who proceded her in death Dec. 22, 1952. She was a member of the Elco Baptist Church. Survivors are three daughters, Wanda Lucille Hartline, Cape Girardeau, Esther Violet Kemper, Eustis, FL and Lula Grace Pickett of Tamms; three sons, Don Charles Raby, Elco, Walter William Raby, Tamms and Albert Lee Raby of Benton, IL; one sister, Grace Fraley, Granite City; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter and one grandson. Friends may call today from 6-8:30 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms. Service will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery near Dongola.

Tamms, IL--WALTER W. RABY, 87, of Tamms died Wednesday, Nov 6, 2002 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Mo.  He was born March 1, 1915 at Tamms, son of Charlie Clarence and Rana Ruth Walters Raby.  He and Naomi Vancil were married Oct. 17, 1936 in Jonesboro, IL.  Raby was retired from GM&O/ICG Railroad and had farmed.  He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rayford and Ben Raby of Alton, Ill.; three sisters, Wanda Hartline of Cape Girardeau, Lula Pickett of Tamms, Esther Kemper of Eustis, FL; two brothers, Don Raby of Elco, Ill., Albert Raby of Benton, Ill.; three granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and Saturday after 8:30 a.m.  The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Bill Fox and Bob Richardson officiating.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery at Dongola, IL.

UNITY, IL--CHARLES L. "SHORTY" RANDOLPH, 75, of Marion, Ind., formerly of Unity and Tamms, died at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, in the Wesleyan Health Care Center in Marion, Ind.  He was born in Unity to the late Daniel Randolph and Beulah (Modglin) Randolph.
He married Frances Fanning. She survives.
Charles was a hi-lift operator and retired from General Motors in 1989.  He was a member of CPC Sympathy Club and enjoyed camping at Mississenewa camp grounds.
Additional survivors include: his son, Michael L. Randolph, Marion, Ind.; mother, Beulah Randolph of Marion; sister, Viola Hodges of Tamms; mother-in-law, Georgie Fanning, Marion, Ind.; aunt, Violet Randolph, Marion; sister-in-law, Thelma Fanning, Marion, Ind.; brothers-in-law, William Fanning of Marion, Ind., Kenny (Nancy) Fanning, Gas City, Ind. and Kelly (Frankie) Fanning, Jr. of Marion, Ind.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, in the Needham-Storey-Wamper Chapel in Marion, Ind., officiated by the Rev. Bruce Koontz. Interment followed in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion, Ind.
Visitation was Sunday in Marion, Ind.

Jonesboro, IL.--THELMA RAY, 100, of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2005 in Union County Hospital in Anna. Thelma was born Feb. 9, 1905 in Alexander County, the daughter of Joseph Cleveland and Minne Hartline Allen. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro for many years. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Helen Ury of Jonesboro and Jean and Elbert Lee Hileman of Mounds; a daughter-in-law, Connie Ray of Anna; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Jackie Ray of Florida; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2005 in St. John's Cemetery, with the Rev. Joe Aldridge officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Elco, IL--Retired Staff Sgt. CHARLES ROY REDCLOUD, 64, of Elco died Monday, May 19, 2008, at his home.  He was born April 6, 1944 in Ullin, Ill. to Everett and Alice Jenkins RedCloud.  He and Patricia Robinson were married August 13, 1963.  She preceded him in death Jan. 3, 2002.  He married Venita Rose Mayberry May 31, 2002.
RedCloud served his country honorably 20 years in the U. S. Army, retiring as a staff sergeant. 

He is survived by his wife, Rose of Elco; special nephews, Michael (Beth) RedCloud and their children and grandchildren, James L. (Sharon) Red Cloud Jr. and their children and grandchildren; special nieces, Sheila (Keith) Clark and their children and grandchildren, Tina (Rick) Bracken and their children and grandchild; two sisters, May Ellen Robinson and Helen Severs of Ullin; a brother, Robert RedCloud of Ozark, Ala.; mother-in-law, Lucille Mayberry of Tamms, Ill; other nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his first wife; parents; brothers, James L. RedCloud, Everett Red Cloud, Jr., Carl RedCloud, and three infant brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clint Nale officiating.  Interment will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Wetaug, Ill.  Full military rites will be conducted by a ritual team comprised of area veterans groups sponsored by Pulaski County VFW Post 8891.

 

Cairo, IL.--DR. REDMAN PASSED AWAY UNEXPECTEDLY AT SALT LAKE CITY--BURIED HERE--News was received yesterday of the death of DR. NED REDMAN in Salt Lake City.  Deceased had located there on account of his health.  He was quite a young man, but a successful practicing physician.  His mother Mrs. Ellen Redman and sister Miss Eliza, resided there with him. Although it was known that he was in poor health it was not thought that his condition was serious until Saturday when a telegram summoned R. L. Redman, a brother, to his bedside.  The latter left at once, but death came before he reached there.  The remains are en route to Cairo. Deceased was born and raised in Cairo.  He leaves his mother, four sisters and two brothers to mourn his death.  The sisters are Mrs. B. McManus Jr., and Misses Nora, Eliza and Kate. FUNERAL NOTICE--REDMAN--Died in Salt Lake City, Monday, July 19, 1909, after prolonged illness, John E. Redman, aged 24 years. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Rev. Father Downey officiating.  Special train will leave Fourteenth street for Villa Ridge cemetery where interment will be made. Cairo, IL.--Death of Capt. Redman--CAPT. WILLIAM A. REDMAN died at the hour of 4:30 this morning after a severe illness of a few days duration.  He died of diabetes.  Capt. Redman was born in Shawneetown, seventy-five years ago, where he lived, went into business and married.  He removed to Arkansas about the year 1852 and lived in the town of Napoleon and other places.  He came to Cairo in 1864 and has lived here since that time.  His wife died about the year 1870 and afterwards he married again.  By his first wife he had five children.  By second we believe eight.  Most of his children are still living though one or two have died.  His second wife survives him. Capt. Redman was a merchant before coming to Cairo.  Here he was employed for many years on the Halliday-Phillips wharfboat.  He was a genial man, pleasant to meet and made friends.  His family is well provided for. --From The Cairo Citizen, Thursday, December 1, 1898, contributed by Anna Shelton.

 

Cairo, IL.--DEATH OF AN OLD CITIZEN--VALENTIN REISSER, an old citizen of Cairo, died last Friday evening at 7 o'clock.  For the past seven years he has suffered from frequent strokes of paralysis, which have compelled him to abandon all business pursults, and which at times have even threatened his life. Mr. Reisser was a native of Germany, where he was born in 1826.  He came to Cairo before the war, and during his long residence here accumulated considerable property.  He leaves a wife and six children, all grown.  Funeral services were held Sunday at St. Patrick's church, and attended by the Arab fire company, of which the deceased was a member. --From The Cairo Weekly Citizen, Thursday, March 16, 1893, contributed by Anna Shelton.

Bethalto, IL--THELMA RAE REITEMEIER, 73, of Route 1, Bethalto, died at 9:27 a.m. Monday in Wood River Township Hospital after a three-week illness.  An employee of Olin Corporation for 30 years, she was an office clerk in the metallic manufacturing department, retiring in 1965.  She was the widow of William Reitemeier who died in 1951.  Surviving are three daughters, Mary Hunt of Brighton, Ill., Rose Walters of Bethalto and Ruth Diuguid of Royalton, Ill.; one son, Thomas Schilling of Bethalto; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marian King.  Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home, Bethalto, where services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Jack Reif officiating.  Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto.  (Contributed by Donna Dailey Knight.  Note:  Thelma was born at Tamms on Nov 29, 1903; d. Cairo, IL--MRS. MIA MCNEMER RENNIE, 3111 Washington Avenue, died suddenly at 6:03 Sunday morning at St. Mary's Hospital.  She was a lifelong resident of Cairo and the daughter of the late  Dr. George H. McNemer and Adah E. Hubbard McNemer.  
Mrs. Rennie was a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota Sorority.  She was a member of the former Fortnightly Music Club of Cairo and a member of the Cairo Baptist Church.  
Since the death of her husband, the late Roswell M. Rennie, Mrs. Rennie and her daughter had owned and operated the Rennie Insurance Agency.
Mrs. Rennie is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Marion R.) Thistlewood, Cairo, several cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Kirby Funeral Home Chapel,  Rev. Larry Potts, pastor of the Cairo Baptist Church, will officiate and interment will be in the Spencer Heights Cemetery at Mounds.  (Note:  Mrs. Rennie died July 14, 1968.)  Contributed by Martha Aldridge.


Thebes, IL.--THELMA AILEEN RENSHAW, 75, of Thebes died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006 at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born April 23, 1931 in Gale, IL, daughter of Alma Adams. Renshaw graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and Edwardsville with a Master's Degree in library science. She had been a teacher and librarian more than 30 years. she was a member of American Association of Librarians and member of Latter-Day Saints. Survivors include a daughter, Stacy Renshaw-Roberts of Anna; three sons, David Renshaw of Thebes, Carl Renshaw of Energy, Ira Renshaw of New Athens; a sister, Jessie Waring of Thebes; three brothers, Dewey Adams of Cape Girardeau, Paul Adams of New York, clifford Adams of Thebes; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother. Visitation will be from noon to service time Thursday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Kirby officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.

Indianapolis, IN--ERNESTINE RANDALL RHINEHARDT, 89, Indianapolis, formerly of Washington, D.C. and New York City, died on January 14, 2008. Mrs. Rhinehardt was born on March 3, 1918 in Tamms, Illinois to the late William and Ibber (Broome) Randall. She worked at the Pentagon in civil service secretarial positions for 25 years. She then moved to New York City, where she worked for the the Republican Party and then in civil service for the City for fifteen years. Mrs. Rhinehardt moved to Indianapolis on January 4, 2007 so that family could assist her. A memorial service will be held on January 17, 2008 at 7 p.m. in Robinson Community A.M.E. Church, 4602 N. College Avenue, Indianapolis. Inurnment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery Garden Mausoleum V. Survivors include her niece, Ann M. Randall and nephews, Theodore H. Randall, Jr. (Dorothy) and Donald R. Elco, IL.--GEORGE LEE RHYMER, 68 years old, of Elco, died at 10:20 a.m. Sunday, July 13, 1986 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born in McClure Nov. 12, 1917, son of Jess and Lula Gifford Rhymer. Mr. Rhymer had retired from the GMO and ICG Railroads after 36 years as a section head. He was also a member of the Mississippi Valley Coon Hunters Association and the Union County Coon Hunters Association. Mr. Rhymer is survived by his wife, Virgie Sims Rhymer, Elco; one daughter, Penny South, Cobden; four brothers, Henry of Granite City, Jess of Chicago, Jim of Anna, Wesley of Dongola; four sisters, Emma Gaeve of Kidder, MO, Myra Sharp of Elco, Dorothy McRaven of Mississippi, Mildred McRaven of Reynoldsville and two grandchildren. Friends may call at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms after 3:00 p.m. today. Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jay Franklin officiating. Anna, IL.--JIMMIE RHYMER, SR., 72, of Anna, died Wednesday, March 6, 1996 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born August 10, 1923 in Delta, Alexander County, son of Jesse and Ora Allen Rhymer. Rhymer was retired from the body shop at Pearl Motor Company. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Iva; three sons, Jimmie Jr. of Anna, Terry of Okinawa, Japan, Phillip of Murphysboro; four daughters, Mary Betts of Tamms, Peggy Roberts of Wood River, Barbara Rhymer of Roxana, Darlene Clover of Jonesboro; his mother of Olive Branch. Also surviving are six brothers, Jesse Rhymer of Loves Park, Wesley of Dongola, Howard, Alfred and L. G. Dover of Olive Branch, Maurice Dover of New York; four sisters, Dorothy Jones of Collins, MS, Lorraine Fitzgerald of North Carolina, Beverly McHarry of Olive Branch, Mildred McRaven of Jonesboro; 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, his father, two brothers and a sister. Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Anna from 5-9 p.m. today and Saturday until service. Unity, IL.--MR. JACOB RIGGLE, an old citizen of Unity, in this county, died at an early hour last Saturday morning, after a brief illness. Mr. Riggle was born in Pennsyvania about the year 1834. He came to Alexander County when a young man as a school teacher, and taught twenty consecutive years. He taught many years in the neighborhood where he has since lived and where he died. He married a Miss Atherton, a sister of Mr. F. D. Atherton and of the late Martin Atherton. For the past twenty-five years he has been a successful farmer in the neighborhood known as Richwood. Here he lived a quiet life and reared a large family. He was a good man, a sincere Christian, and a consistent member of the Baptist Church. His widow and we believe seven children survive him. He was sixty-one years of age at the time of his death and commanded the respect of all who knew him. His funeral was largely attended last Sunday, Rev. M. Culp, of Villa Ridge, officiating. Cairo, IL.--DEATH OF MRS. ELIZABETH RILEY--One of Cairo's Most Beloved Women Passes From Earth--The well-spent life of one of Cairo's oldest and most highly esteemed residents came to a peaceful close yesterday morning in the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Riley, who after a long battle with disease and attendant weakness has passed to rest. The announcement of her death was received with sorrow by the large circle of friends of her family and sincere sympathy is felt for the daughters who are left to mourn the companionship of their affectionate and devoted mother. Mrs. Riley was born August 11, 1830, at Brownsville, Pa.  With her husband she came to Cairo over thirty-eight years ago from St. Louis and had resided here continuously since that time.  Capt. Riley was commander of the gunboat Essex during the civil war and his death occurred about fifteen years ago. During her widowhood, Mrs. Riley lived a tranquil life, surrounded by her devoted daughters who in their grief have the consolation that duty well done will give.  The surviving members of the family are the Misses Emma, Mollie and Lizzie Riley and Mrs. Annie Riley Redman. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at the residence as announced.  Rev. J. A. Scarritt will conduct the services in the absence from the city of Rev. J. T. May 27, 1902--The funeral of Mrs. E. L. Riley was held this morning at 9 o'clock at the family residence, 907 Walnut street, and was very largely attended.  Rev. J. A. Scarritt conducted the services and appropriate music was rendered by singers under the leadership of Mrs. J. M. Lansden.  The pall bearers were Mssrs. P. W. Barclay, Miles Fred'k Gilbert, Albert Lewis, Chas. Cunningham, Wm. White, W. L. Bristol, W. H. Wood, and Charles Pink.  A special train conveyed the family and relatives to Beech Grove cemetery, where interment was made. --Contributed by Anna Shelton.

 

Cairo, IL.--DEATH CLAIMS MRS. LAURA J. RITTENHOUSE--Former Cairo Lady Died in Chicago Tuesday Evening--Remains to be Brought Down to Villa Ridge for Internment in Family Buring Ground--The death of Mrs. Laura J. Rittenhouse, which occured at her home in Chicago Tuesday afternoon is a shock to all her friends, despite the fact that it was felt that her end was near. Mrs. Rittenhouse has been suffering from a tumor for a long time and for many weeks has been in steadily failing health. The last few days her condition was such that her death was momentarily expected. Her children wee with her with the exception of her son, W. A. Rittenhouse of this city, who was called to Chicago only recently by her condition, but who was here when the news came of her death.
Mrs. Rittenhouse was born in Pulaski County on April 30, 1841. She was the daughter of Dr. Daniel Arter, one of Cairo's pioneer citizens. She married Wood Rittenhouse on December 31, 1863. Five children survive, Mrs. Maud R. Mayne of New York; Dr. H. H. Rittenhouse, Dr. F. M. Rittenhouse and Robin Rittenhouse all of Chicago, and Wood Rittenhouse of Cairo. Mr. Rittenhouse lost his life in the sinking of the KATHERINE in the cyclone in the Ohio River just below Cairo a number of years ago.
Mrs. Rittenhouse took a leading part in the life of Cairo during her residence here. She was a very strong character. Her activities took many forms. Never at any time neglecting her family, and they occupied a large part of her time and attention, she was an active worker in the Woman's Christian Temperance Union and in the Cairo Woman's Club, yet she found time to devote to literature, and was an extensive contributor to a number of publications.
The remains will leave Chicago tonight and be brought down to Villa Ridge, where services will be held at the grave Thursday forenoon.
A special train on the Illinois Central will take Cairo friends to Villa Ridge where brief services will be held at the grave, conducted by Rev. Alfred M. Eels, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Members of the choir of the church will furnish the music.

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD THIS MORNING--Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Laura J. Rittenhouse were held this morning at Villa Ridge Cemetery, where her body was buried beside her husband. Cairo friends and family went to the cemetery on a special train, meeting the remains, which were brought down from Chicago on the morning passenger train. Accompanying the remains from Chicago were three sons of the deceased, and her daughter, Drs. H. H. and F. M. Rittenhouse, Robin Rittenhouse and Mrs. Maud Mayne, her grandson, Donald Rittenhouse, Mrs. Ida Castle, her niece, and Mrs. Fred M. Rittenhouse. Rev. Alfred M. Eells, pastor of the Presbyterian Church offered prayer and members of the Presbyterian choir sang hymns, and then the casket was lowered into the grave by the four sons of Mrs. Rittenhouse, who served as pallbearers. St. Louis, MO--NATHANIEL J. RIVERS, 83; WAS LEGISLATOR.
 Nathaniel J. "Nat" Rivers, a businessman and a former state representative and St. Louis alderman, died Sunday (June 12, 1994) at Deaconess Hospital. The cause of death was unavailable. He was 83 and lived in St. Louis.
Since 1983, Mr. Rivers was a member of the Silver-Haired Legislators and the senior citizens' liaison in the office of Rep. William L. Clay, D-St. Louis.
Clay said Tuesday: "Nat Rivers lived a long and meaningful life that touched the lives of thousands of persons. He will be missed greatly by the community and by me personally - I've known him since I was a kid."
Mr. Rivers was an insurance and real estate broker for most of his life. He was a Democratic representative in the 79th district from 1968 to 1983 and served as 26th Ward alderman from 1964 to 1967.
He was involved for many years in community organizations and activities, including the Page Park YMCA, Annie Malone Children's Home (Annie Malone Service Center), West End Community Conference and the Union-Sarah Economic Development Corporation, of which he was a past board chairman.
Mr. Rivers was born in Cache, Ill. He attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and St. Louis University.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at West-Side Baptist Church, 4675 Page Boulevard. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Officer-Ellis Funeral Home, 1905 Union Boulevard. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens of Memory in Millstadt.
Among the survivors are his wife of 54 years, Audrey McCoy Rivers; a daughter, Louise Rivers Nicholson of University City; two sisters, Ora Lee Rivers of Mascoutah and Theola Fitts of St. Louis; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Tamms, IL--GERALD K. ROBISON, 82, of Thebes, IL, died Sunday, April 11, 2004 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Ill.  Robison was born July 11, 1922 at Elco, Ill., the son of Ora A. Robison and Bernice Provo Robison.  Robison married Anna L. Merriman Jan. 3, 1970 in St. Louis, Mo.
He was a veteran of World War II and a retired truck driver for the Jones Truck Line in St. Louis for 35 years, before retiring in 1990.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kristen Robison Groves of Johnston City, Ill.; a stepson, Steve Davis of Montgomery, Tx; two stepdaughters, Dyanna McElroy of Carbondale and Jane Gibson of Pevely, Mo; a sister, Pauline Jones of Perryville, Mo; three brothers, Hershel Robison of Qulin, Mo., Clarence Robison of St. Louis, and Donald Robison of Cairo, IL; and seven grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a son and three brothers.
Friends may call between 3 and 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones Funeral Home in Tamms.  The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Monahan officiating.  Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes with full military honors given by the Pulaski County VFW Post 8891 of Mounds.

Columbus, OH--JUANITA ALLDREDGE RODERICK, age 80, died February 24, 2000 at the Inova Mount Vernon Hospital, Alexandria, VA. of complications from a cerebral hemorrhage. Mrs. Roderick, wife of Thomas G. Roderick, formerly of Columbus, OH is survived by daughter, Linda G. of Alexandria, VA; and a son, Thomas G. Roderick III of Hillsborough, NC. Born October 22, 1919 in Tamms, Illinois, daughter of the late Georgia Elizabeth and Leonard Alldredge. She graduated from Hartville High School and attended The Ohio State University and is a life member of the Ohio State Alumni Association. She was also active in and a member of several Republican Women's Clubs during the past 50 years both in Ohio and Virginia. She was a former member of the Indianola Presbyterian Church. She is survived by sisters, Claire Diebel (Mrs. Vern) of Coshocton, OH, Dorothy Beck (Mrs. Roy E.) of Salem, Wisc., Betty Fuchs (Mrs. Carl) of Palm Harbor, Fla., Lois Wilson (Mrs. Bill) of Shell Knob, MO.; and brothers, Leonard Alldredge of Rootstown, OH, Jack Alldredge (Norma) of Kent, and Gary Alldredge of Cambridge, OH and the late Robert Alldredge; sister-in-law, Jean R. Campbell (Mrs. Ralph) of Dublin, OH and granddaughter, Mary Jane Roderick of Columbia, S.C. and 22 nieces and nephews. Olive Branch, IL--SCOTTY EUGENE RODGERS, 33, of Olive Branch died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, in Scott City, Mo.  He was born March 25, 1969, in Granite City, Ill., son of Gary and Joyce Sissom Rodgers. He and Penny Adams were married in 1986. She also died July 10, 2002.  Rodgers was a self-employed carpenter.  
Survivors include a son, Quinton Rodgers; two daughters, Courtney and Chelsea Rodgers; his parents; a brother, Gary Rodgers Jr.; two sisters, Candy Tucker and Lorie Mitchell; grandmothers, Marcella Sissom and Ola Essex, all of Olive Branch.

He was preceded in death by grandparents.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill., after 5 p.m. today.
 The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Earnest Brown officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.  --Contributed by Leslie Riney.

Cache, IL.--March 13, 1967--Word has been received of the death of MRS. BERNICE CAVENDER ROGERS of 2721 Cruft Avenue, Terre Haute, Indiana, a former resident of Cache, IL. Mrs. Rogers, who died Monday evening, is survived by her husband Charles; one son, James and one daughter, Mrs. John Lewis and one brother, Clarence Cavender. Miller City, IL.--JUDITH C. ROGERS, age two years, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rogers of Miller City, died today at the home of here parents. She is survived by her parents, a brother, Jimmie Lee Rogers and her grandmother, Mrs. Clara Cavender. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at Community Chapel with the Rev. Mr. Young, pastor of the Dongola Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be made in Schindler Cemetery. Dan A. Sullivan will direct the funeral....donated by Judy Simpson. Cairo, IL.--JUSTICE OF PEACE AND PUBLIC OFFICE INCUMBENT IS DEAD--A. J. Ross Died Yesterday Morning at His Home on Twelfth Street--MOST EFFICIENT MARSHAL MOUND CITY EVER HAD--Lost Arm When a Child and Had Foot Amputated on Account of Accident--A. J. ROSS, 67 years old, for many years justice of the peace and police magistrate in Cairo, and holder of public office here and at Mound City for 35 years, died at 9:30 o'clock yesterday morning at his home, 300 Twelfth street. He lost his right arm when a boy of 15 years by falling under a freight train at Mound City.  In the early eighties, he was appointed city marshal there and was regarded as one of the most efficient officers the city ever has had.  He was known to law breakers as a man quick with his revolver and was feared by a gang of desperate negroes who at that time made Mound City their headquarters. On May 20, 1884, in attempting to arrest a negro for being intoxicated on a train, he was kicked from the car and dragged several hundred feet.  His right leg was broken and amputation near the ankle was necessary. In this crippled condition, he continued his public activities and came to Cairo about 25 years ago.  Here he was elected justice of the peace which offiice he occupied at the time of his death.  He was elected police magistrate several times. Funeral services will be conducted at the residence today by Rev. J. D. Lamkin, pastor of the Cairo Baptist church.  A special interurban train will leave for Beech Grove cemetery at 2:30 o'clock.  Undertaker E. A. Burke has charge of the funeral. Tamms, IL--DR. JAMES K. ROSSON, 71, a former mayor of Tamms, and a practicing physician there for 48 years, died at 10:25 p.m. Friday (Feb 4, 1966) at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau after a three day illness.
Dr. Rosson was recently honored at dinner given by members of Alexander County Medical Society, of which he was a member, for giving 50 years of service, 48 of them in Tamms.  He also was a member of St. Mary's Hospital for many years until age caused his retirement.  He was also a member of the American Medical Association, and Illinois State Medical Society.
A veteran of WWI, Dr. Rosson was a member of the Winifred Fairfax Warder Post of American Legion at Cairo and of Alto Pass Lodge 840 AF & AM.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tamms.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Rose Rosson; one brother, Elgin Rosson of Pomona; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Crain Funeral Chapel in Tamms after 2 p.m. Sunday.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Chapel by the Rev. John Rogers and Rev. J. A. Cairo, IL.--EDWARD D. RUFFIN, age 52 years, departed this life Saturday afternoon while the grief stricken family gathered around the bedside. He had failed in health quite rapidly during the month of October, but continued active until one week before the end came. A good father and husband, a successful business man and a real humanitarian, made Mr. Ruffin a very valuable man to this community. During his twenty-six years in the undertaking business he toiled diligently to build up a business commendable to his people and commensurate to the support accorded him by the general public.  While he did not reach his goal in its entirety, he has surely left a monument to his integrity. Mr. Ruffin leaves a wife, Mrs. Mary Ruffin; four children, Miss Josie, Edward, Jr., Miss Esther, Master Richard; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Forbes of Nashville, Tenn., Mrs. Nettie Kelly of Detroit and Mrs. Josie Rowlett of Cairo; two aunts, Mrs. Charlotte Norvell and Mrs. Laura Anderson of Cairo, with a number of other relatives and a host of friends who will be grieved by his passing. The body will lay in state at the family residence, 224 Twenty-fourth street, where it may be viewed by the public, until Wednesday afternoon, at which time it will be taken to the A. M. E. church for funeral services at 1 o'clock, Rev. J. A. Cairo, IL.--ARCHIE MESHEW (DICK) RUSSELL, JR., age 54, a resident of Route 1, Cairo, died Saturday at 9:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Hospital in Cairo where he had been a patient for 10 hours.  Mr. Russell was born in Ballard County, Ky., and had lived in the Cairo area since 1926.  He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Urbandale. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Della Russell; his father, Archie M. Russell, Sr. of Cairo; one son, James Russell of Cambria, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Sue Barney of Santa Maria, Calif., and Mrs. Nettie Purvis of Los Angeles, Calif.; one brother, O. T. Russell of Silver Springs, Md.; two grandchildren, and other relatives. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the Joe F. Berbling Funeral Chapel and until 9 a.m. Tuesday when the body will be moved to the Community Chapel in Urbandale where friends may call until the time of the funeral services. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Community Chapel in Urbandale with the Rev. Ray Hall of Olive Branch and the Rev. H. B. Knight of Benton, Ill., officiating.  Interment will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery at Mounds. Joe F. Cairo, IL.--MRS. JOSH RUST--MRS. ELIZABETH RUST, age 63, of 4015 Elm Street, passed away Sunday evening at 5:40 o'clock after a long illness. She is survived by her husband, Josh; five children, four sons, James, Marcellus and Gilbert of Cairo and Woodrow who is stationed with Company K; and a daughter, Mrs. Fred Martin of Long Beach, Calif.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Walter McCoy of Memphis and John McCoy of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; and two sisters, Mrs. Celia Graham of Mississippi and Mrs. Lula Bryant of Washington state. Cairo, IL.--MISS CLARA MAY RUTLEDGE DIES AT INFIRMARY--Miss Clara may Rutledge, age 24 years, for a number of years an 
operator in the local offices of the Illinois Bell Telephone company,  died this morning at 11:55 o'clock at St. Mary's Infirmary, following 
a surgical operation Thursday morning.  Surviving Miss Rutledge are her father, James Rutledge, 418 Union street, and a half sister, Etta May Rutledge.  The death of  Miss Rutledge has brought much sorrow to her many friends as she was  a young woman of pleasing disposition and charm, efficient in her 
work and faithful to her duties.  Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the residence on Union street, complete arrangements for the service to be

Funeral Services for Miss Rutledge Sunday--Funeral services for Miss Clara May Rutledge, age 25 years, whose death occurred at St. Mary's infirmary Friday morning,  following a surgical operation, will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30  o'clock at the Tigert Memorial church, the Rev. A. F. Haynes, officiating.  The cortege will leave the residence, 418 Union street,  at 1:15 p.m. for the church.  Immediately after the services the funeral party will leave by automobile for Baumgarde cemetery at Dogtooth Bend, where interment will be made.  E. A. Burke will direct the funeral.  The pall bearers, employees of the Illinois Bell Telephone company, for which Miss Rutledge was an efficient operator for a number of years, will be Carl Dieckmann, manager of the local office;

Cairo, IL.--J. L. RUTLEDGE--James Lee (Jim) Rutledge of 1206 Walnut street, this city, passed away this morning at 9 o'clock, following an illness of 
several years.  He is survived by his wife, Rose; a daughter, Etta May, besides two nieces.  Mr. Rutledge had been a resident of Cairo for more than 
fifty years.  He was employed for many years by E. A. Smith, Sr., in the sawmill business and for thirty years or more, prior to becoming  ill, he was a valued and trusted employee of the Peterson-Miller Box Co.  Jim Rutledge was a kind-hearted man and was noted for his generosity and charity.  The body will remain at the Berbling Funeral Home, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Sunday.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. L. S. RUTLEDGE FUNERAL--Funeral services for James Lee Rutledge of 1206 Walnut street, who passed away Saturday morning, were held at the Berbling Funeral Home this afternoon at 2 o'clock.  Rev. S. L. Cairo, IL.--MRS. RUTLEDGE DIES THURSDAY EVENING--The funeral services of MRS. KATIE RUTLEDGE who died Thursday 
evening at 5 o'clock at her home, 2804 Poplar street, was held this afternoon at Bumgard cemetery, Miller City, where the remains were taken at noon today.
Mrs. Rutledge was the wife of J. L. Rutledge, lumber inspector  for the Mississippi Box Company.  She leaves surviving her besides her

Cairo, IL.--We learn that MRS. SARAH RYAL, wife of John S.
