Cairo, IL.--MRS. FANNIE
ZIMMERMAN--Mrs.
Fannie Zimmerman died at her home on Walnut street last Monday
forenoon, of rheumatism of the heart. She has been subject to
this trouble for a long time and a more violent attack carried her
off. For many years she has conducted a grocery store at 11209
Walnut street, living in the rear with her children. Her husband
was shot many years ago at Mounds Junction by a negro. Funeral
services were held at the house yesterday, attended by the Pioneer
lodge, Knights and Ladies of Honor, of which organization the deceased
was a member, interment being at Villa Ridge. Four children are
left to mourn the loss of a mother: Mary, Lena, Sarah and Louis,
the latter employed at the stone depot. Misses Mary and Sarah
were absent at the time of her death, the former at Ann Arbor, Mich.,
and the latter at Cleveland, Ohio. The deceased was a sister of
Mrs. J. A. Goldstine and Mr. A. Roth, the latter coming down from
Chicago to attend the funeral. Mrs. Zimmerman had $4,500 life
insurance and owned some property in Cairo, among which is the new
building on Commercial avenue occupied by the Fair. --From The Cairo
Weekly Citizen, Thursday, December 15, 1892, contributed by Anna
Shelton. (Note: Mrs. Zimmerman and her husband are buried
