My Name is Norm Gentry and I will be your
host while visiting this website. There must be a reason why you surfed in
here, whether it be because you are looking for ancestors or you have a
interest in Brown County, we intend to make your visit worthwhile. This is
an active and growing site, please check back often.
A little bit about my family...although I hail from Central California,
my wife hails from Western Illinois. My roots dig into Brown County by way
of my ggggrandfather Oliver Perry Gentry. He, his wife, Martha Ann Jones
and son Owen Perry moved into Brown County from Madison County, Kentucky
around 1840 and stayed until 1885. Although not a long time span, many from
Owens' family were born, married and died here. Owen married Margaret Catherine
Hamilton and had William Aaron, Lettie, John Roland, George Muriel, Austin
and Oliver Alvin (From whom I descend) while in Brown County. Some of the
children stayed with their own families and some moved on to Lamar County,
Texas. After many years in the service my wife and I settled in the Midwest,
