Obituary (Souce unknown)

Ezekial Piper was the third child of a family of five children and was born in Hollowayville, Illinois, January 9, 1854. His father was David Piper who died in 1867 and his mother's maiden name was Phillipina Heintz. His two brothers, Lawrence and Edward have both passed away while his sisters, Mrs. Mary Minier, of this place and Mrs. Kate Mariatt, of Kansas are both living.

Mr. Piper was of the eighth generation from Nathaniel Piper who was born in England in 1630 and settled in Ipswich, Mass., prior to 1665. The 8 generations with birth dates are as follows; nathaniel Piper 1630; Samuel Piper, 1670; Samuel Piper, 1701; Elisha Piper, 1746; David Piper, 1776; Ezekial Piper, 1795; David Piper, 1822; Ezekial Piper, 1854.

In march 14, 1878 he was united in marriage with Mary Elizabeth Harris of Dimmock, Ill. and to them three children have been born, Burtrand, William, and Alva May. The have one grandchild, Orville Brokaw who is of the tenth generation. In the winter of 1883 the moved to their farm home south of Tiskilwa where for over twenty years, Mr. Piper with his family have been respected by all. In the early autumn of 1894 he was converted and united with the Christian church at Milo where he retained his membership till death. For some time he has been in failing health and his malady was of such a nature that human efforts failed to restore health and on Monday night, Sept. 10, 1906 just before the beginning of a new day, he passed away, aged 52 years, eight months and one day. The grief stricken wife and children with the other relatives have the sympathy of all.

Funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church in Tiskilwa, Wednesday afternoon, Rev. J.A. Alford officiating, and his remains laid to rest in Mt. Bloom.

Farmer and large land-holder and carried on farming extensively, owning two thousand and sixty-five acres of land. His farm at home, which he cultivates, contains three hundread and twenty acres of this and the remainder is rented to tenants. It is located in different townships, some in Berlin, and some in Hall and Selby. The land being valuable affords a large income from the rents, and is constantly increasing in value. Hiram H. Piper arrived in Bureau county in 1836, and has since lived within its borders, taking a prominent part in shaping its agricultural development. Notes for Abraham Lincoln Piper:

Abraham L. Piper, a prominent representative of the agricultural interests of Bureau county, is residing in Ohio township. He was born in this county, January 6, 1866, and is a son of H. H. and Amanda (McWilliams) Piper, mention of whom is made on another page of this volume. Abraham was the fourth in a family of nine children, and was reared in the usual manner of farm lads, early becoming familiar with the duties and labors that fall to the lot of the agriculturist, for he assisted in the work of plowing, planting and harvesting as the years went by. He has always carred on farming as a life work and now owns one hundred and sixty acres of very arable and productive land in Ohio township, which is divided into fields of convenient size by well kept fences and thereon are annually gathered good crops of corn, oats and hay. He likewase raises considerable live stock. He has lived upon this place for ten years and is one of the leading agriculturists of this part of the state. He is also one of the heirs to the vast estate of his father, Hiram H. Ohio Couple Have Golden Wedding

Mr. and Mrs. Harding Piper of near Ohio, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 26, with a family dinner at non and a reception during the afternoon at which more than 300 guests were received. Among the guests were five who also were guests at the wedding 50 years ago. They were A. L. Piper, Mr. and Mrs. june Piper, Ed Husser and Mrs. Matt Lerch.

Mr. Piper, the former Ethel Julian, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Julian of Princeton and Handing Piper, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Piper of Malden, were married Sept. 27, 1898 at the home of the bride's parents. They moved the following spring to their present farm home. They are the paretns of three children: Asa H. Piper of Ohio: June of Thatcher, Ariz.; and Mrs. George Reiker (Mary) of Ohio. They have six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
