TEPEN. Albin "A. J." Tepen, 87, of Jerseyville, died at 10:20 am Saturday, December 3, 1988, at Jersey Community hospital. Born in Calhoun County, the retired self employed farmer was the son of the late Bernard & Anna (Mest) Tepen. He married the former Frances Smith in Meppen in 1926. She died July 29, 1963. Surviving are: 2 sons, Alfred and Vic Tepen, both of Jerseyville; 6 daughters, Ann Carpunky, Kate Ward, Dorothy Tittle, Essie Haun and Gert Nevlin all of Jerseyville and Adele Randolph of Carrollton; 38 grandchildren; 45 g-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Tepen of Hardin and 2 brothers, Paul Tepen of Rockbridge and Bill Tepen of Alton. Preceding him in death were: his wife, 3 brothers, Henry, Bernard and Herman Tepen; 1 sister, Mary Droege; and a g-grandson. Visitation was held Monday at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. A mass will be celebrated December 6, 1988 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic church in Jerseyville, with the Revs Henry Schmidt and William Hembrow as co-celebrants. A funeral mass was celebrated Wednesday am at St. Joseph Catholic church in Meppen with burial in the church cemetery. The retired farmer was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late John & Catherine (Beckman) Tepen. He is survived by 2 sisters, Rose Woelfel of Jerseyville and Margaret Schroeder of Bowling Green, Missouri. [Unknown Contributor - Thanks!] THOMPSON. Rose M. Thompson, 91, died at 10:20 pm Sunday, February 24, 1991, at Jersey Community hospital. She was born in Calhoun County, daughter of the late Frank & Mary (Osterman) Schleeper and was a member of Jersey County Home Ext. She and Ernest Thompson were married in 1926 in Hardin. He died in 1971. Surviving are 1 son, Joseph Thompson of Jerseyville; 2 daughters, Virginia Ritter, Jerseyville and Helen Powers of Hardin; 14 grandchildren; 1 step grandson; and 11 g-grandchildren. 1 granddaughter and 7 brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Visitation is from 5-9 pm at Jacoby-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jerseyville. A funeral mass is at 10 am Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic church in Jerseyville, where she was a member. Rev. Thompson, 91, died at 10:20 pm Sunday, February 24, 1991, at Jersey Community hospital. Services for Fred Robert Todd Sr., 79, of 455 Barr Ave., Jerseyville will be conducted Tuesday at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, by the Rev. James Pepper with burial in Oak Grove cemetery. He died at 11:20 pm July 9 at Jersey Community hospital. He was born May 18, 1904 in Calhoun County, son of the late Jack & Margaret (Anderson) Todd and was a retired river barge worker, First Mate. His survivors are his wife, Marie (Ballard) Todd whom he married August 14, 1971 in Jerseyville; 1 son, Fred Robert Todd Jr. of Clearwater, Florida; 2 grandchildren and 4 g-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 4 brothers and 1 sister preceded him in death. Tolbert, 99, beleived to be the last Civil War veteran in Jersey, Greene, Calhoun, and Pike counties, died April 21, at the home of his son, Emil Tolbert, in Calhoun County. [Unknown Contributor - Thanks!] TURPIN. Died 12-01-1983. Horace G. Turpin, 82, died January 12 at Calhoun Care Center. Born in Waverly son of Louis & Leona (Tierney) Turpin. Married Edna Sevier who died in 1976. He leaves 2 sons, Horace, and Glenn, both of Jerseyville; 2 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren and 1 g-grandchild.
