These two Cyclone Maps (below) were made by Leroy Getz to illustrate the path of the cyclone of 1898 from when it entered Carroll County to when it left and entered Ogle County. These maps were made using an enlarged copy of part of the Outline Plan of Carroll County, Illinois, which is on Page 16 of the Plat Book of Carroll Co. Illinois 1893. The larger numbers on this map are each township's section numbers. The smaller numbers, which are circled and edged in blue, mark in sequential order (according to the path of the storm) each farm or other damage site described in either the Lanark Gazette's Carroll County's Greatest Calamity! or the Mt. Carroll Mirror's Daily Democrat. The table below provides the number of each Farm, Land Owner, Tenant (if different from Land Owner), Township, and (Township) Section No.

Note: Both of the above mentioned publications on the Cyclone of 1898 do not describe the damage to these sites in the order in which it occurred. The reader must find the damage site by matching the name of the land owner or tenant described in the publication to the name of the land owner or tenant listed in the table below the maps.
