Quinter Stitzel was born on September 10, 1900 in Salem Township at the home of his parents, Daniel D. (Born 1870-died 1936) and Effie Meyers Stitzel (born 1879- died 1949). They are the parents of four children: Quinter, Esther, D. Emerson, and Benjamin Kenneth (B.K.). He is the third generation descendant from David Henry Stitzel and wife Sarah of Freedom Township. Quinter attended the local country school west of Lanark; graduated from the Lanark High School, and attended Mt. Morris College for a couple of years.

On June 19, 1926, he married Iva May Price of Oregon, Illinois. She was born on May 21, 1906 at the home of her parents, John M. (born 1876) and Grace Gaffin Price (born 1879) at their home in Pine Creek Township in Ogle County. She graduated from Oregon High School, and also attended Mt. Morris College. The Prices were early settlers in that area and were prominent in farming and in community affairs.

After their marriage, the Stitzels started their life occupation of farming and livestock production. They have lived in Carroll County all of their married life. In 1964 they retired from the farm to Lanark. They have two children, Margaret M., born May 7, 1936, and Daniel D., born May 20, 1943. Margaret taught high school Home Economics for a while until her marriage to Dale E. Wicherts of Dixon, Illinois. They now reside in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, and have two daughters, Amy Lynn and Mary Sue. Daniel D. married Paulette Haan, born May 8, 1943. They have three children: Darrel D., Kristine Kay, and Jennifer Jo. Dan and Paulette are active farmers and livestock producers in Cherry Grove Township.

Since their retirement the Stitzels have busied themselves keeping up their home and other interests. One of their interests has been in local history and their ancestral genealogy. They have compiled a Stitzel genealogy.
