My name is Ulrich Kirschnick and I live in a small village called Brandau. This village belongs to a region called Darmstadt- County, which is located in Hessia/ Germany. I am very involved in genealogy and ancestor research in this area.

A while ago I was approached by a man who gave me about 40 old letters written from a men named Georg Götz/Getz from Mount Carroll Illinois. These letters were written between 1870 and 1894 and sent to his relatives in Germany in this area.

I am currently working on these letters and their roots. There are many people and locations from your area mentioned. I would like to find any information in this area.

I have below the data I collected from the GETZ Family. The list is not completed. In one of his letters, from around 1885/86, it is without date, he mentions that he got 13 children, 9 sons and 4 daughters, I only got 11 children enlisted. The daughter, born on June 7th 1875, is named on your website Anna Elisabeth. Georg Götz writes in his letter that she was baptized Anna Eva and his niece Anna Eva Getz was named godmother. It is exactly this Anna Eva who collected all the letters and kept them. I attach one letter, so that you can see what we’ve got.
