John William BUCKWALTER Jr.
1 Oct. 1972 - 30 Mar. 1973. Lance Corporal, John W. Buckwalter saw duty at Camp LeJeune, N.C.; Camp Pendleton, CA; Camp Schwab, Okinawa and Viet Nam. He served with the 3rd Marine Division - 4th Marine Reg. - 7th Communication Battalion - Headquarter Supply Company in Okinawa. In Vietnam: Sub Unit #1 First Anglico. Stationed in Saigon at MACV annex; Headquarters where they supplied food, ammunition, guns, boots, uniforms, etc. to outlying units from the Makong to the DMZ

He was an A-1 Skyraider pilot with the sixth Special Operations Squadron and was assigned to Pleiku Air Base, Vietnam, in February.

He was credited with flying 35 missions during the month of May alone.

He previously served in France, Germany and the United States. While stationed at Keesler, Miss., he was commander of an airmanís squadron. At Webb Air Base in Big Spring, Tex. He was instructor pilot and military training officer for undergraduate pilots.
