
The sixth annual reunion of the descendants of Naaman
Spencer and Diantha (Benham) Spencer occurred at the home of
Mrs. Clarinda Case at Eagle Point, August 27, 1903.
Notwithstanding the heavy rains of the night previous and the
threatening appearance of the sky, there were fifty-five
members present and they passed a pleasant day visiting and
partaking of a bountiful supply of good things prepared for
the occasion.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Allen B. Spencer, Mr. and
mrs. Isaac Spencer, Naaman Spencer, Mrs. Clarinda Case, Elmer
Case, Miss Orpha Case, Luke Case; Charles H. Spencer and
family of Beloit, Wisconsin; J. H. Spencer and family of
Milledgeville, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Fosdick, Mr. and
Mrs. E. Dale, Vernie Dale, Mrs. Phila Booth and children of
Oregon, Illinois; Mrs. John Riggs and children of Polo,
Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Coffey and children, C. N.
Ormsbee and wife, Porter Ormsbee and family, Mr. and Mrs. W.
G. Schriner and son, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Duffey and son Mason,
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Layton, Mrs. M. E. Ripley and children.
Little Miss Beulah Helen Layton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ed Layton being the youngest member present was the recipient
of the silver spoon.
Mr. John Coffey was elected President of the association for
the ensuing year, Henry Elsey, Secretary and Treasurer. A
vote of thanks was given to Albert Taylor for the use chairs
and tables borrowed for the occasion. The reunion of 1904
will be held at the same place on the last Thursday of
August.
