For the 54th time the descendants of Naaman and Diantha Benham Spencer gathered, with members coming from as far away as northern Minnesota and Kansas City.
The Spencer family history dates back for hundreds of years, coming to America in 1630, and plans were made at the 1951 meeting for a coat of arms.
The oldest members present Mrs. Elmire Spencer Sarber, and Mrs. Nora Woodin, presented the silver spoon to the youngest, Ronald Paul Spencer, six months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Spencer of Rock Falls.
Elden Spencer of Port Byron was reelected president and Mrs. Helen Spencer, secretary.
The historian reported seven marriages, nine births and three deaths. Members were urged to assist in keeping the records correct by sending reports to Mrs. Oleta DePuy, Route Two, sterling. A moment of silence in memory of departed members was observed.
The 1952 reunion will be held at the Jordan hall on June 28.
