1979 Spencer-Benham Reunion
Contributed and transcribed by Judy Witt

The 1979 reunion was held at Nims Park in Rock Falls, Illinois. About 120 relatives and friends were present and enjoyed a delicious pot luck dinner. Mrs. Ruth Hunt of Pine River, Minnesota, was our most cherished member (eldest) present. Mrs. Hunt is a fourth generation descendant of Naaman and Diantha Spencer. Mrs. Hunt and Alice Hunt traveled over 500 miles to attend the reunion. Mrs. Hunt continued tradition by presenting the youngest member present, Colby Michael Spencer, with a reunion spoon. Colby Michael is a seventh generation descendant and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Spencer of Rock Falls.

It was decided that we should try to get Montmorency School for the reunion even if it means changing the date.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Scykes of Lone Rock, Wisconsin, donated an amplifier and mike system to the reunion. Many others donated prizes and hard work to make the reunion successful. Thanks to all!

The officers were retained for another year: Ralph Witt, President, Ron Spencer, Vice President, Judy Witt, Secretary-Treasurer.

Many games, fun, and ice cream concluded the afternoon.

Respectfully submitted
Judy Witt—Secretary
