Wysox, in the southeast section of Carroll county, is one of the banner townships agriculturally with many of the county's most productive farms. Its story revolves around the only major settlement in the township. Milledgeville, with a population of 1208, and assessed valuation on the county's tax books of $3,543,730. Wysox was named after a town of that name in Pennsylvania from which came many of its first settlers, according to the 1913 history of Carroll county.

The township's assessed valuation for 1966 was $l0,173.560, 4.7 per cent over the year before: its population 1,788 which indicates that only 580 or less than one-third of the township's people are living on the farm. However, the 1960 census of 1,788 compares with 1,672 in 1950 and 1,472 in 1940 which indicates a gain of more than 20 per cent in 20 years.

H. J. Stover is supervisor. Raymond Woodin, town clerk, Ralph A. Spanogle, assessor, Walt Estabrooks. road commissioner, and Russell Meyers, Le Roy Warehime and John Wechsler, the town auditors. Divided into two precincts, I. C. lsgrig and Elmer A. Pilgrim are Republican precinct committeemen, and Kenneth E. Armstrong and George F. Cook, Democratic committeemen.

A principal point of interest in the township is the Fairgrounds at Schell Park, 11513 East Milledgeville route, about two miles east of the village where the annual Carroll county fair is held in early August.

Knox's Mill at Milledgeville on Elkhorn Creek is the only known mill-site in the township. John Kester, first settler, developed the waterpower at this site. Alvin Humphrey in very early days had a tavern or stagecoach inn on the Savanna-Buffalo Grove road, or Sucker Trail. at 11990 East Telegraph road, on the east boundary of the township.

Surrounded by a wrought iron fence in the center of a section stands the Geroge Page family neglected cemetery, with entry at 5561 South Center Drive. The Bethlehem church site is at 5997 South Route 88 (Now Route 40) ; at 8210 East Dutchtown road is the Dutchtown Brethren Church and cemetery, also known as the Milledgeville cemetery. At 9020 South Wagner road is the South Otter Creek church site, at 9039 South Otter Creek Drive is the Bethel Cemetery, and at 11600 East Telegraph road is the Union church site and cemtery.

Rural school sites in the township are Chambers at 6800 East Ideal road. Star at 7002 East Rt 88 (now Rt 40). South Otter Creek at 7500 East Fairhaven, Walker at 8501 East Livengood.
