Robert Johnson to Maude Wingerd

Last Thursday morning, July 12, at 7 o’clock, at the home of the officiating minister, Rev. P.F. Eckerle, occurred the marriage of Mr. Robert L. Johnson in Mt. Carroll, and Miss Maude L. Wingerd of Lanark.

Miss Wingerd is the youngest daughter of Mr. And Mrs. A.C. Wingerd of Lanark. She was graduated from the Lanark High School, took post-graduate work in the same institution and Normal work at Dekalb, which qualified her for the work of teaching. She was a successful teacher in the day school and was also an active worker in the Sunday school and all the work of the church. She is well qualified also in other lines and will make a worthy help-meet for the man of her choice.

Mr. Johnson is well known to many of our people, having worked in this vicinity in the past. In connection with his regular work of mail carrier out of Mt. Carroll, he is farming the place owned and occupied by Mr. And Mrs. Frank Arnold, where the young couple will be at home to their friends after August first.

There is no date on this newspaper clipping but it was in Etta Horner Bowers 1917 high school graduation memory book, so it might have been from that era.
