The Pana, Ill., native had worked for Sloan Kettering and for the Rockefeller Institute in New York for more than 20 years. She was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church. McClure, Ill.--Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Carrell of Pana was held Sept. 5. Burial was in Oak Ridge Glenn Oak Cemetery in Maywood.
Mrs. Carrell, 91 years old, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 1989, at Country Care Center.
She was born July 13, 1898, daughter of Fred and Eva Sitton Douglas. She married Frederick H. Carrell Sept. 30, 1915, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He died July 29, 1962. They farmed in Pana before moving to Chicago. She was a member of Judson Baptist Church in Oak Park.
Survivors include a son, Clyde Carrell of Pana; a daughter, Joyce Doll of bonita Springs, Fla.; three sisters, Joyce Newton of McClure, Rose Bradley of Ellisville, Mo.; Bess Dillow of Wood River, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. -- [Southeast Missourian, 9-13-1959 Contributed by Anna Newell]

Taylorville - Edna A. Cabbell Evans, 95, of Taylorville died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Taylorville Care Center.
She was born June 12, 1907, in Lerna, the daughter of William I. and Mae Chaney Van Atta. She married Claude R. Cabbell in 1924 in Newton; he died in 1969. She married the Rev. William Evans in 1972; he died in 1984.
Mrs. Evans was a retired homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Taylorville.
Survivors; a son, David R. Cabbell of San Ramon, Calif.; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two sisters, Mabel Pirrello of Cambridge, Wis., and Rowena Camm of Florida.

Daniel Lytle Laid To Rest
Well Known Retired Citizen and War Veteran Buried in Linwood
Funeral services for the late Daniel Lytle, many years resident of Pana and Civil War Veteran, who died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Louis Lester. The First Methodist church conducted the services. A good attendance of relatives and friends to pay their last sad respects. Members of the church choir sang a number of the songs, favorites of the deceased, and the funeral discourse was given by Rev. H.F. Powell, pastor of the church. The floral offerings were very beautiful and in charge of Mrs. Clint Lesure, Mrs. Howard Toberman and Mrs. Floyd McKee. Funeral Director R.M. Kirkpatrick had charge of the internment that was made in Linwood cemetery in Pana, Illinois with these casket bearers: Ora Ross, Max Penwell, George A. Wittmann, Charles Anderson, Warren Penwell and Lyman Sallee.
Mr. Lytle was a native of Ohio, having been born in Pike County, November 5, 1845, and at death was aged 81 years and 26 days. He enlisted on May 24, 1864, in Company F, Regiment 137th, Illinois Infantry, and saw service with that contingent for about four months, being discharged on September 24, 1864. Following his discharge he was wedded to Sarah Wade on February 15, 1866, she dying in 1903. In 1906 Mr. Lytle was married to Mrs. Lydia Searles of Pana, IL, who preceded him in death in 1921. Deceased had always followed farming during his life and was a man of fine character, a good citizen and a true friend.
Surviving Mr. Lytle are the following children: Walter Lytle of Oconee, F.S. Lytle and Mrs. Louis Lester of Pana; brothers and sisters left to mourn his demise are; Mrs. Ella Husband of Griggsville, Illinois, Mrs. Hattie Goldman of Louisiana, Missouri, Mrs. Hester Maderis of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Walter Lytle of New Salem, IL. Private Services to Be Held
Private services will be held for Dorothy M. Miller, 97, of Pana. Mrs. Miller died at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000 in Heritage Manor Nursing home.
Mrs. Miller was born Sept. 28, 1903, in Zion, the daughter of David and Fannie Jeanette Simpson Grieve. She married Leland Miller on Feb. 11, 1928 in Zion. He died Sept. 29, 1978. She was a graduate of Pana Township High School; attended College, and taught in rural Pana and area schools in her earlier years. A homemaker, she lived most of her adult life in the Pana area on the family farm. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ; she also formed the Clark Mother's Club at Clark School, west of Pana.
Surviving are a son, David George Miller and wife Betty, of Midland, Texas; daughter Linda Lee Kehias and husband Avgary of Pana; three grandsons, Larry Alan Miller of Bakersfield, Calif., Roger Neal Miller of Mansfield, Texas and Eric D. Matheny of Shelbyville; and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Memorials may be given in her name to St. John's United Church of Christ or Pana Community Hospital Foundation for the hospice or Quad County. McCracken Dean Funeral Home was in charge.

Leland Alfred Miller, 78, a retired farmer of RR 3, Pana, died at 5:55 a.m., Friday, Sept. 29, 1978, Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.
Mr. Miller was born Dec. 21, 1899, in Iuka, a son of George and Emma Gordon Miller. He was married to Dorothy M. Grieve in Zion, IL. on Feb 11, 1928. She survives. Mr. Miller was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Pana.
Surviving besides his wife are a son David George Miller of Midland, TX; a daughter, Mrs. Linda Lee Matheny of Tower Hill; 2 sisters, Mrs. Effie Wooldridge of Rock Falls and Mrs. Edith Holler of Salem; a brother George of Serena, IL; also 3 grandsons. Three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
Private family funeral services were held 11:30 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 1, in the McCracken Funeral Home with the Rev. Loren Windhorst of St. John's United Church of Christ officiating. Visitation was Saturday evening at the funeral home. Miss Ruby Munzenmaier was organist and Mrs. Glynetta Taylor soloist.
Casket bearers were David Miller, Larry Miller, Roger Miller, George Miller, Lloyd Sinclair and Reed Holler.
Burial was in Rosamond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond.

Velma Mitchell, 95, of Memphis, retired sales representative for Avon Products, died of heart failure Thursday at St. Peter Villa.

MATTOON - Kevin Lee Reincke, 52, of Mattoon died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.
He was born Dec. 16, 1952, in Hillsboro, the son of Leland "Bud" Reincke and JoAnn Parks Westerfield. He married Barbara Monk; they later divorced.
Mr. Reincke was a parts man at a car dealership.

Opal F. Reincke
Opal Fern Reincke, 98, of Taylorville died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital in Taylorville.
She was born Oct. 22, 1901, in Hornsby, the daughter of Walter and Ida Bohlmeyer Barnes. She married Edwin Reincke in 1922; he preceded her in death. Two sons, Dale and Leland Reincke, and a daughter, Marceline Mae Smith, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Reincke, a retired homemaker, was a member of First United Methodist Church in Taylorville and the Women's Missionary Society.
Survivors: nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Velma Mitchell and Leola Moore, both of Memphis, Tenn.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, the Rev. Dr. Phillip Icenogle officiating. Burial: Kettelkamp Cemetery in Nokomis.

Miss Jane Simpson
Miss Jane Simpson, aged 74 years old, died at her late residence three miles south of Rosamond at 10 o'clock Tuesday night. Deceased was a sister of Henry Simpson who resides near Rosamond and an aunt of Granville Slatten, a prominent merchant, residing at Taylorville. Miss Simpson was also a relative of Mrs. Jacob Orr of this city.
The cause of Miss Simpson's death is given as grippe, which was followed by pneumonia. The report current that Miss Simpson was denied medical attention prior to her death is strenuously denied by relatives. Dr. Little of Rosamond attended her in her last illness.
The funeral services will be held at Taylorville on Thursday, where the remains will be taken for burial.

Joseph Smith
Morrisonville Man Killed by Train
Morrisonville, April 26 - Joseph Smith, 79, died last night after being struck by a freight train on the Wabash railroad. The injured man was taken to the office of Dr A T Gibson where he died thirty minutes later.
Mr Smith was born in Jersey Co in 1848, and came to Morrisonville with his parents in 1856. He was twice married, his first wife being Miss Dora Sutton, who preceded him in death. He later married Miss Delia White, who died about 9 years ago.
Surviving are five children: Mrs Winnie Reed, West Alis, WI; John, El Reno OK; James and Albert, Kewanee; Pearl, Litchfield; one daughter, Mrs Jennie Scull, died on April 2, 1927. He also leaves two brothers, John, Morrisonville, and Lewis, Peoria, and one sister, Mrs Dccia [ as given] Sutton, DeSota, MO

Harold Leroy Westerfield
DECATUR - Harold L. Westerfield, 88 of Sun City, Arizona, formally of Decatur Ill, passed away on June 20th 2008. He is survived by JoAnn, his loving wife of 45 yrs, His Stepson, Van Reincke and Daughter-In-Law, Marsha Reincke. A Grandson & Great Grandson and Niece, Charlotte Lindstrom. He was preceded in death by son, Leigh Westerfield and Stepson, Kevin Reincke. Harold was a WW II Vereran-and served on LST 325 during the Normandy invasion, He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1979.
