 Case No. 14365 Receivers Office at Palestine, Ill.

September 26, 1860

Received from Zachariah Davee Jr. & Henry Davee of Clark County, Illinois the sum of one hundred dollars and cents; being in full for the East half of the North East quarter of section No. fifteen in Township c No. nine & North of Range No. fourteen West containing Eighty acres and--hundredths, at $1.25 per acre; and for which tract, or such portion thereof shall have been ascertained not to be claimed by a valid right of pre-emption under the act of twenty second term eighteen hundred and thirty eight, or that of the first of Term eighteen hundred and forty, a patent will be issued after the twenty-second Term, eighteen hundred and forty-two; and this receipt will entitle the purchasee or assignee to a return of the purchase money, without interest, of this land claimed by such preemption right, or of the whole tract at his option $100.

Know all men by these presents That we, Zachariah Davee Jr. and Susannah Davee, his wife, of the county of Clark, and state of Illinois, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to us in hand paid before the ensealing and delivery of these presents by Joseph Davee of the county of Clark, and state of Illinois, have granted, bargained, and we do hereby grant, bargain, sell, assign, convey, and confirm to him the said Joseph Davee, the following tract or parcel of land, lying and being situated in the County of Clark, and state of Illinois, and particularly known and described as follows, to wit: It being the half of the undivided eighty of the East half of the North East quarter of section No. fifteen in Township No. Nine and North of Range No. fourteen West containing forty acres, be the same more or less. To have and to hold the above described tract or parcel of land, to­gether with all and singular the rights, privileges and appurtenances, unto the same in any wise belonging or appertaining to him the said Joseph Davee, and to his and their heirs and assigns forever: and we do further for our heirs, Executors and administrators with the said Joseph Davee, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns that we are lawfully seized of the above described premises as of a sure, perfect and indefensible estate in fee simple; and that we with, and our heirs, Executors and administrators, shall forever warrant and defend the said tract or parcel of land with all the appurten­ances as aforesaid, to the said Joseph Davee, and to his heirs and assigns, against the claim or claims of all person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim the same, or any part thereof.

In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands, and affixed our seals, on the twenty sixty day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-two.
