April 23, 1869 MARRIED: On Thursday, April 15, 1869, at the residence of the bride’s father in Melrose Township, by REV. January 25, 1877 Died at his residence January 12, 1877, REV. ROBERT BAILIFF, of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, aged 78 years. The deceased was one of the pioneers of this and Crawford County. February 3, 1885 Douglas Nichols and Miss Laura Riley of Melrose Township were united in marriage last Thursday evening by REV. THOMAS BAILIFF at her residence. The Clark County Herald. 7. July 14, 1885 MRS. ROBERT BAILIFF, living about five miles from Melrose, on the York Road, committed suicide last Monday by taking a dose of “Rough On Rats”. The Clark County Herald. September 1, 1885 Married on Tuesday evening, August 20th by REV. THOMAS BAILIFF at his residence in Melrose Township, Mr. Joseph Howerton and Miss Ella Thompson. Lewis and Miss Sarah E. Gardner of York Township, were united in marriage at the residence of the bride’s parents, John Gardner and wife, UNCLE TOMMY BAILIFF officiating. The Clark County Herald. 11. JANUARY 4, 1899 J. A. Turner of Martinsville and Miss Edith Updegraff of Casey were united in marriage at the home of the bride on Sunday, January 1, by REV. T. C. BAILIFF. The groom is the son of William Turner and the bride a daughter of Ansel Updegraff. The Clark County Democrat. 12. March 1, 1899 Last Thursday evening at 6:30, R.J. BAILIFF of Melrose Township, and Mrs. Amanda Bowers of our city, were united in the holy bond of wedlock. The Clark County Democrat. 13. March 22, 1899 JACK BAILIFF and little son JESSE of Hutsonville attended the old fiddlers contest and both won several prizes. JESSE was the best boy fiddler who took part. The Clark County Democrat. 14. March 22, 1899 H. Burner who had been confined to his home since early fall, died Thursday forenoon and was buried at the BAILIFF CEMETERY Friday afternoon. Rev. T. C. BAILIFF conducted the funeral services. The Clark County Democrat. 15. March 29, 1899 REV. T. C. BAILIFF and Rev. Deverick left Monday for Ridge Farm to attend the C. P. Presbytery.
