B.F. SEWELL Birthday Dinner
Last Wednesday, 5, was the 65th anniversary of the birthday of B. F. Sewell of Johnson Township, brother of the editor. A lot of good neighbors gathered in with the “dead loads” of luscious eatables and enjoyed the day in feasting, talking over old times, &c.
Frank and his good wife were as happy as two big sunflowers. The editor had the pleasure of meeting a number of old friends and of enjoying a dinner of everything good and substantial such as nobody but farmers’ wives and their daughters know how to prepare.

Surprised on His Birthday -- S. L. Slusser and wife were in Casey Thursday of last week. He has so far recovered from injuries received on the face from the kick of a colt that he can now call on his doctor instead of the doctor calling on him. His face is still swollen and superates some, caused largely by splinters of bone working out. When they went home Thursday evening they had hardly gotten the chores out of the way until neighbors began to come in carrying baskets, and informed him that the date was his 55th birthday anniversary. He said it was a surprise to him, but by certain signs and maneuvers he afterward concluded that Mrs. Slusser was cognizant of the plot and plans of the neighbors. [Unknown newspaper.
