1843 DELINQUENT TAX LIST

Coles County
©2003, Transcribed by Kim Torp

This is the annual delinquent tax list, printed in the Republican. These are just the folks who didn't pay their taxes on time.... not all the folks who owned land. So if you don't find your folks on here, they either didn't own land in Coles, or more likely, they were good law-abiding citizens who paid the taxman on time! Names are spelled as in the original source, so be aware that there are misspellings.
