THE EFFINGHAM
MILLING COMPANY, one of the leading industries of Effingham, was incorporated in February, 1892, with a paid-up
capital of $30,000. The incorporators, who are the present trustees and managers of the business, are Edward
Austin, W. W. Austin, William
Dyke, Calvin
Austin, Harry B. Austin
and Charles Austin. The first-named gentleman is President of the company, while Calvin Austin holds the office
of Vice-President and William Dyke is serving as Secretary and Treasurer. The mill is fitted out with roller process
machinery of the best modern make, and has a daily capacity of one hundred and twenty-five barrels of flour. The
mill was rebuilt in 1889 and supplied with new machinery, so that it is now comparatively new. It is operated by
a sixty horse power steam engine and is situated in the northern part of the city, two blocks west of the Illinois
Central Railroad. The members of the Effingham Milling Company are all men of good business ability and financial
standing, and in this industry they are doing a successful business, which is constantly increasing. A liberal
patronage is certainly well deserved by them.
