INGRAM, KENAN WRIGHT
Kenan Wright Ingram, son of Sewel and Ella Ingram, was born near Macedonia, Ill., 
Feb. 8, 1852.  He departed his life Monday morning, Dec 23, 1935, aged 83 years, 
10 months and 15 days.
He was united in marriage with Laura Josephine Upton on July 29, 1871.  This 
union was blessed with six children, three of whom preceded him in death.  Those 
surviving are: Aaron Algernon Ingram of West Frankfort, Luella Morgan of West 
Fankfort, and Flaurie Eula May Vaughn of Zeigler. His wife preceded him in death 
on Dec. 1, 1916. He was again united in marriage with Esther Hays on Aug. 9, 
1918, who survives him. He professed faith in Christ in early life, and united 
with the Union Baptist Church, and was the first candidate baptized by the late 
Eelder J. D. Hooker. He felt the call to the ministry, and on April 17, 1881, at 
the request of Union Church, a Council met and ordained him to the full work of 
the Gospel ministry.  The Council was composed of Elders Hosea Vise, C. Y. Allen 
and J. D. Hooker. He spent 54 years as an able preacher of the Gospel, and in 
his best days had few equals as a pulpit preacher.  He held pastorates in some 
of the best churches, including: County Line, Macedonia, Antioch, Liberty, 
Mt Zion, Union, Blooming Grove, Delafield, Herrin, Thompsonville, Pinckeyville, 
Pleasant Grove and others.
He held many evangelistic meetings and baptized about 1500 people.  He also 
conducted many funerals, and comforted the bereaved. Thus we say a useful and 
busy life has come to a close.  Only eternity can measure the value of such a 
life of preaching the Gospel of Christ. He was a member of the Macedonia Lodge 
of Free and Accepted Masons. He and his wife were members if the Macedonia 
Baptist church, until he was called to the Church on High.
He leaves to mourn their loss, his loving companion, the above named children,15 
grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and a host of 
friends. A precious one from us is gone,A voice we loved is stilled,A place is 
vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. Passed Away Monday Elder K. W. 
Ingram, widely known Baptist minister, died Monday morning, Dec 23, at his 
home in McLeansboro, at the age of 83 years.  For many years he was a resident 
of Franklin county.
During his active years Elder Ingram pastored and organized new churches 
throughout Southern Illinois, among the larger ones he served being in Herrin, 
Ridgway, and Cave-in-Rock. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ester Ingram, three 
children, Alva Ingram of Zeigler, Mrs. Oscar Vaughn of Zeigler, Mrs. Willie 
Morgan of Plumfield.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at Macedonia, with Rev. 
John B Maulding, of this city in charge, assisted by Rev. Cyrus Maulding of Mt 
Vernon.  Interment was made in Antioch cemetery.

INGRAM, SETH PHILANDER
Former Franklin County Man Dies at Carlyle, Ill.
Funeral Services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Seth Philander 
Ingram, who passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herschel B. Jones, in 
Carlyle.Mr. Ingram was born in Hamilton County on March 23, 1848, and at the 
time of his death was 87 years of age.  For many years he was a business man and 
general merchant at Thompsonville, but for the past two years had made his home 
with his daughter.  Death was caused by a paralytic stroke suffered Wednesday 
evening. The body was brought to Benton at 8 o'clock Sunday morning where it lay 
in state until the hour of the funeral, which was held at the First Baptist 
church with Rev. J. Will Howell of West Frankfort officiating.  It was taken to 
the Baptist church in Macedonia where old friends might view it before interment 
in the Macedonia cemetery.  The Freeman Funeral Home was in charge. Besides Mrs. 
Jones, he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Ruth Bethman of San Diego, 
California, and six grandchildren.

ISOM, JAMES HAROLD  
Fresno, California 
James Harold Isom, 66, formerly of Christopher, died at the V.A. Hospital in 
Fresno on Oct. 2, 1999. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 
23, in the Mulkeytown Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Aken officiating. The Gilbert 
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Isom was born on Dec. 11, 1932 in 
Christopher, the son of Harold Cleland and Marguerette (Ryan) Isom. He was a 
retired Navy veteran of 20 years. Survivors include a sister, Marilyn Twitty of 
Mulkeytown.


ISOM, LAURA
MRS. LAURA ISOM OF  SESSER DIES
Mrs. Laura Mae Isom, 76, of Sesser died in Franklin Hospital,  Benton. She 
was born May 26, 1890, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Erastus  and Lydia 
Johnson Barnett. She leaves her husband, Hershel; sons, Virgil Marlow  of 
Sesser and Bill Newbury of Waltonville; a daughter, Mrs. Vada Hall of Sesser;  
step-sons, Harry Isom of Florida, Albert Isom of South Carolina and Max Isom of  
Arkansas; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 
 at 2 p.m. Friday at the Sesser Baptist Church with the Rev. E. A. Summers  
officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, Tamaroa. Friends may call at  
the funeral home.
