BETTY LOUISE RADEMACHER TRIMBLE NEWBURG, MISSOURI
Betty Louise RADEMACHER TRIMBLE, 64, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001. Services will be
held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Teague and Sons Funeral Home of Newburg,
MO, with the Rev. Bill TOWNS officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 9,
from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ozark Memorial Garden
in Rolla. Mrs. TRIMBLE was
born on Dec. 3, 1936 in Macedonia, the daughter of Ernest and Helen (PHILLIPS)
RADEMACHER. She loved quilting, watching baseball, car racing and cooking. For a
number of years she was a cook at the Cooking From Scratch Restaurant in Doolittle, MO.
Survivors include a very dear friend Phyllis JACOBS of Newburg; granddaughter Ashley
BRINKLEY, also of Newburg; two sisters, Irma COPELAND of French Camp, Calif., Joyce
COX and husband Robert of Newburgh, Ind.; a brother, Frank RADEMACHER and wife Carol
of Mt. Prospect; seven grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives. Betty
was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard (Tom) TRIMBLE; two sons, Michael
and Randall WINEMILLER and two sisters, Thelma and Barbara RADEMACHER.

CB Rash, 74, died at 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999 at his home. Services will be held at
2 p..m. Saturday, in the First Baptist Church of Elizabethtown, with the Rev. Ed Lafferty officiating.
Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery with full military services by American Legion Post 571 of
Rosiclare. Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday evening at the Cox Funeral Home in Rosiclare with
Masonic Rites at 7 p.m. Visitation is at the church from 12 until 2 p.m. on Saturday. Mr. Rash was
born on Aug. 13, 1925, the son of Ben Toy Rash and Maude Ella (Huffsey) Rash. He was married June 28,
1947 to Mary Ellen Rash. She survives. He was retired from Ozark-Mahoney Fluorspar Mine, was a 50 year
Mason, a veteran of the Air Force, and a member of American Legion Post 571. In addition to his wife
Mary Ellen, he is survived by one son, Paul Wayne Rash of Ewing; one daughter, Sherry Lynn Livingston
of Elizabethtown; one brother, Charles A. Rash of Eldorado; one sister, Ruby Blair of Shawneetown; three
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, two brothers, Clyde Rash and Hazel Rash, one
sister, Nettie Dutton and his parents. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the First
Baptist Church of Elizabethtown Building Fund, or Golden Circle Building Fund.

Isabel V. Ratliff, 79, died at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, in Franklin Skilled Care
Unit of Franklin Hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, in the Belle Rive Missionary
Baptist Church with the Revs. F. Glenn Payne and Richard McCormick officiating. Burial will be in
the Dahlgren IOOF Cemetery Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gholson Funeral Home in
Dahlgren and from 12 until time of service Wednesday, at the church. Mrs. Ratliff was born near
Ewing, on Sept. 1, 1920, the daughter of Calvin and and Bertha (Upchurch) Tharp. She was married
to Verne D. Ratliff on June 12, 1940, and he preceded her in death in 1983. She was a member of
the Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church and was a past president of the W M U. Surviving are one
son, Roger and wife Shirley Ratliff of O'Fallon, Ill.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Ruth Ward and Ruby Edwards.
REA, CAMDEN
Camden Rea, life-long resident of Franklin County, and son of the late Abner
and Mary Rea, was born 15 March 1852; died yesterday at his home in Benton,
Illinois. On 8 March 1871 he married Missouri Lewis and for several years
they lived on a farm near where Valier, Illinois now stands, but moved to
Benton several years ago. He leaves his wife, two sons, Hosea and S.C.D. Rea
of Benton, and one daughter, Mrs. Robert Ellis Rea of Kansas City, MO. Burial
services will be held at the Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery.

Daughter of Claude Rea Fatally Hurt

Funeral services were held in Terre Haute, Indiana, Thursday for Janet Rea, 19,
of Terre Haute, who was fatally hurt in a traffic accident Monday.
Miss Rea was the daughter of Claude "Fuzzie" Rea, Terre Haute, a former resident
of Benton and a graduate of the Benton high school. She also leaves her mother
and a brother.
Miss Rea was driving a car which was struck by another vehicle. Marjorie English,
also 19, her companion, was critically injured. The driver of the other car suffered
lesser injuries.

Mrs. Lottie Rea, Sesser, Dies; Services Sunday

Mrs. Lottie Rea, 70, of Sesser, widow of the late Homer Rea, died at 3 p.m.,
Friday at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She had been ill for the
past 23 years.
Mrs. Rea was a member of the Baptist Church in Sesser. She is survived by two
daughters, Mrs. Grace Murry of Centralia and Mrs. Pearl Waldman of Sesser, and
five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Baptist Church in Sesser
with Rev. Bill Christoff officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill
Cemetery, Sesser. The body will lie in state at the Brayfield Funeral Home in
Sesser.
REA, WILSON
Died : on Thursday night, the 11th instant, Mr. Wilson Rea,
about 83 years of age. Mr. Rea was one of the first settlers of
Franklin County. he removed to this state with his family about 35
yrs. ago, and was much respected by a large number of aquaintances.
He leaves a widow, and his son, Col. Abraham Rea, to mourn their
somewhat sudden bereavement; for although he
had outlived the space generally allotted to man, "Three score and
10." he was well and hearty about twernty four hours before he died,
being attacked by cholera morbus, life was soon gone. During his
short sickness he was constatnly attended and had all his earthly
wants and wishes supplied by his wife, and his son.A.REA.

Maggie L. DIAL REED, 74, died at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2003, at St.
John's Hospital in Springfield. She was born in Benton, on Jan. 18, 1929,
the daughter of Robert and Amanda (PARRISH) KIVETT. She was preceded in
death by her first husband, Jack DIAL. She then married Billie F. REED and
he survives. Mrs. REED was of the Church of Christ faith.
She is survived by her husband, Billie F. REED of Benton; daughter, Judith
RENCHEN and husband Bill of Kankakee; daughter-in-law, Sharon DIAL of St.
Louis, Mo; and by her second marriage three daughters, Beverly SMITH of Mt.
Vernon, Billie Jean WINEMILLER of Valier, Lana GARLAND of West Frankfort;
grandchildren, Alex and Jennifer RENCHEN, Todd and Katherine RENCHEN, Chad
and Christine RENCHEN, Jack RENCHEN and fiancee Mary Kay LaROCQUE;
great-grandchildren, Ryan, Hannah and Julia Ann RENCHEN; grandchildren by
her second marriage, Lindsey STROBEL, Chris SOUTHERLAND, Devon SOTHERLAND,
Bonnie JAMERSON, Billy Dale JAMERSON, Tara CARR, Athena GARLAND, Brandy

Mrs. REED was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, one son,

sister, Nelma KENT and by two brothers, Leon KIVETT and Charles KIVETT.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at the Morton &
Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with the Rev. Ron GRIFFIN officiating.
Burial will be in the Cartwright Cemetery, McLeansboro. Friends may call

Buckner
Ralph Ray Reeves, Jr. 36, of 101 E. Coal St., died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 1999 at his home, after a
courageous battle with colon cancer. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Friendly Church of God,
Johnston City, with the Rev. Rudy Bond officiating. Burial will be in the Harrison Cemetery, Buckner. Visitation
will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton. Mr. Reeves was born Sept. 25, 1962 in
Elgin, the son of Ralph Ray Reeves, Sr. and Patricia (Gilbert) Reeves. He married the former Joann Kelley on Feb.
19, 1988 and she survives. He was a professional pool player and was one of the best in Southern Illinois. He was
a member of the West Frankfort Moose and the Christopher Eagles. He was a member of the Friendly Church of God,
Johnston City and was a devoted father. Survivors include his wife, Joann Reeves, Buckner, daughter, Raini Rae
Reeves, Buckner; mother, Patricia Reeves, Christopher; a sister, Peggy Ann and husband Preston Palmer, Christopher;
a brother, Jeff L. and wife Marianne Reeves, Christopher; an aunt, Barbara Reeves, Christopher; an uncle, Amos Reeves,
Sesser; several double first cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, niece, Larissa Palmer,
and stepfather, Gerald Swofford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Midwestern Regional Treatment Center, Zion,
and will be accepted at the funeral home.
RICE, FREDA MAUDE (BRADY)
Freda Maude RICE, 83 of Taylorville, died at the Taylorville Care Center, on
Wednesday, May 1, 1991 at 1 p.m.
She was a former resident of West Frankfort.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Shafer Funeral
Home, Taylorville, with Rev. Richard Wattelet officiating. Graveside
services will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in
Benton.
Mrs. Rice was the daughter of William Robert and Patsy ARNOLD BRADY. She was
first married to Loren McKEMIE, who died in 1933, and later married Frank
RICE.
Mrs. RICE was a retired Restaurant owner.
She was a member of the Joy Assembly Church in Stonington, Ill.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by two brothers, six half brothers and two
husbands.

Dies in Frankfort August
Mrs. Nettie Rice, 93, 201 N. Jackson St., West Frankfort, died at 11 am
Sunday at her home. She had lived in West Frankfort for 46 years. She was
a member of the First Christian Church.
Mrs. Rice leaves a son, Rev. Arthur V. Rice of Johnston City; eight
grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 pm Tuesday in the First Christian Church with
the Rev. Glen Wheeler, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in East Fork
Cemetery. Friends may call at Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort.

Wilma Rice, 82, of 13595 Bowling Alley Road, died at 10:38 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at the
Franklin Hospital, Benton. Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 25, at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral
Home, with the Rev. Roger Ellsworth officiating. Her wishes were to be cremated. Mrs. Rice was born
March 28, 1917, in Macedonia, the daughter of Frank and Kate (Lee) Payne. She married John G. Rice
on Nov. 10, 1937, and he survives. She was a housewife and a member of the First United Methodist Church,
Benton. Survivors include her husband, John G. Rice, Benton; a son, Dick Rice, Benton; a daughter, Dee
Harp, Benton; six grandchildren, Gretchen Jenkins and husband John, Portland, Ore., Lisa Rodgers,
Minneapolis, Minn., Andrea Rice, Greenville, NC, Richard Harp and wife Marla, Benton, John Harp, Benton,
David Harp, Decatur; five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, and Julia Jenkins, Portland, Ore. and Jared
and Joshua Harp, Benton; two brothers, Howard L. Payne, Benton, Roy F. Payne, Benton; and several nieces
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson

Zeb Rice
78, of Springfield died at 12:38 p.m. Aug. 18 at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 24, 1907, in Franklin County near Sesser, the son of Andrew B.
and Allie Queen Rice. A resident of Sangamon County for many years, Mr. Rice was
a farmer in the Chatham, Loami and Auburn areas. He was preceded in death by a
sister Nora Rice; and a brother, Homer Rice. Mr. Rice was married to Gertrude Bowles
in 1934 in Pinckneyville.
Surviving are his wife, Gertrude A.; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Frances) DeWitt
of Georgetown, Texas, Mrs. Richard (Janet) Koehne of Virginia and Mrs. Carol A. Allen
of Springfield; two brothers, Elmer of Kennett, Mo., and James of Granite City; three
sisters, Mrs. Bessie Hopper and Mrs. Alice Graff, both of Belleville, and Mrs. Alta
Stockton of Kennett, Mo.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces
and nephews.
Services were held Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with the Rev. Wallace
Watson officiating. Burial was in Primitive Baptist Cemetery at Du Quoin. Vancil Memorial
Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

The Rev. Obie Gene Rich, 71, of 1782 2nd Road, died Wednesday, September 23 1999, in his home. Services
will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. in the Union Funeral Home, West Frankfort, with the Rev.
Clyde Dilman officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thompsonville. Friends may call after
6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He was born on Dec. 5, 1927, the son of Obe and Cleo Rich. His wife is
the former Hazel Hawkins, whom he married Nov. 19, 1953, and she survives. He was a minister for 50 years.
He also served in the U.S. Air Force and was a retired miner from Freeman 34 Mine. In addition to his wife,
Hazel, he is also survived by three sons, Gary and wife Laura Rich of West Frankfort, David and Linda Rich
of West Frankfort, Jim and Monica Rice of Mulkeytown and two daughters, Donna and husband Dennis Sminchak
of West Frankfort and Betty and husband Bob Caraway of West Frankfort; eleven grandchildren, Gabe Rich,
Kyle Rich, Misty Rich, Devan Rich, Christina Rich, Jackie Rich, Courtney Rich, Jordyn Sminchak, John Caraway,
Matt Caraway and Timmy Caraway; two brothers, Burrell and Jerry Rich; five sisters, June, Gladys, Mary, Bonnie,

James M. RICHERSON, 89, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Good Samaritan in
Mt. Vernon. Funeral services for Mr. RICHERSON were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday
at Union Funeral Home. He was buried in Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in
Benton. Mr. RICHERSON was born on Nov. 18, 1913, in Benton, the son of
Curtis and Iva RICE RICHERSON. His wife, Vivian, preceded him in death in
1989. He was retired after 43 years at Old Ben Coal Co. Mr. RICHERSON was a
member of the Bethel Community church in Benton. He is survived by one son,
Jim RICHERSON; one daughter, Brenda MOORE: two grandsons, Ryan RICHERSON and
Kent TABOR; three granddaughters, Melanie NORMAN, Kathy SHURTZ and Kari MAY:

William Howard "Bill" Richerson, age 92, of Benton,
Illinois, passed away at 8:49 a.m., Sunday, July 6, 2008,
at the Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born
January 28, 1915 in Benton, Illinois to Curtis and Iva
(Rice) Richerson. He was a lifelong member of Old Bethel
Community Church, member of UMWA and member of Benton
Masonic Lodge. He worked for 32 years in the mines and
retired from Old Ben #26. William is survived by four
children: Judy Edwards of Anna, IL., Curt and Sue
Richerson of Harrisburg, IL., Jill and Rick Medsker of
Marshall, IL, Steve Richerson of Benton, IL.; 11
grandchildren: Robin and Richard Cunningham, Doug and

Mennie Marie ROBBINS, 84, of Sesser died 7:14 p.m. Jan. 1, 1997, at Herrin
Hospital. Mrs. ROBBINS was a housewife. Born Jan. 22, 1912, in Franklin
County, she was a daughter of Clarence HAMMONDS and Sybble ROBERSON. She
married Virgil ROBBINS Oct. 13, 1928, in Franklin County; he preceded her in
death. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Brayfield Funeral Home with the
Rev. Dan WILLIAMS officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call 10 a.m. Saturday until time of service. She was a member of
Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a Christian.

MRS. LILLIE ROBERTS DIES, RITES WEDNESDAY
Mrs. Lillie Mae ROBERTS, 70, 1107 Brush St., Johnston City, died at 8 a.m.
today in Herrin Hospital after an illness of several years.
Mrs. ROBERTS was born April 1, 1889 northeast of Johnston City and was a
lifelong resident of the Johnston City area. She was a member of the Harmony
Free Will Baptist Church.
She leaves husband Otto; daughter Mrs. Lloyd SULLINS of Marion; sons Vard
ROBERTS and Paul ROBERTS, both of Johnston City, John C. ROBERTS and Leo
ROBERTS, both of West Frankfort.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Boner Cemetery Chapel,
south of West Frankfort, with burial in Boner Cemetery. The Rev. Cecil
WALKER, Harmony Free Will Baptist Church pastor, and the Rev. Mrs. Ethel
HOFFARD, Gospel Mission church pastor, will officiate.

Dallas ROBINSON, 87, of Sesser died 6 a.m. April 27, 1997, at Franklin
Hospital in Benton. He was a retired farmer. Mr. ROBINSON was born Sept. 7,
1909, in Franklin County, a son of Charles and Minnie (SWEETIN) ROBINSON.
Sept. 2, 1933, in Benton, he married Ruby SAMPLE, who survives. Services
will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Brayfield Funeral Home in Sesser with the
Rev. Harl Ray LEWIS officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in
Sesser.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Brayfield Funeral Home in
Sesser. Mr. ROBINSON is survived by one son, Gary ROBINSON and wife Joyce of

a.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, 1999. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Colp Hope Chapel
United Methodist Church with Pastor Todd Hawk officiaing. Burial will be in the Herrin City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are by the
Poulson Funeral Home in Benton. Mrs. Robinson was born on Mach 20, 1909 in Blocton, Ala., the
daughter of John and Lilly Mae (Gilbert) Cagle. She was married to Lloyd Robinson Sr. He preceded
her in death in 1984. She was a homemaker; a member, and a Sunday school teacher for many years at
the Colp Hope Chapel United Methodist Church in Colp. Survivors include two sons, Lloyd Robinson Jr.
and wife Fay, Carterville, Billie D. Robinson and wife Joyce of Hurst; six grandsons, six granddaughters,

Ormond Robinson, 90, died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999 in his home in New Carlisle. Ormond lived and
attended school in Benton. He was the Boys soloist for four years and performed in High School
plays. He worked for U.S. Rubber in research and development for 32 years. He is survived by his
wife and a sister, Wilma Peyla of Benton. Masonic services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2nd in South
Bend, Ind.

Sadie Gertrude Robinson, 80, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday, June 4, 1999, in the Shawnee Christian Nursing

with the Revs. Dwight Dame and Dan Williams officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends
may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Robinson was born on Nov. 24, 1918, in
Sesser, the daughter of Hayes and Rachel (Bates) Stockton. She was married on Nov. 22, 1937, in St. Louis, Mo.
to Walthan Kenneth Robinson. He preceded her in death. She was a homemaker, and attended the Christian
Church. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth R. Robinson and wife Nancy of Sesser, Roy R. Robinson and wife
Patricia of Hallsville, Texas; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Stockton of
Tennessee; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and
two brothers.

Mary V. Rodville, 91, a former Buckner resident, died at 1:10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999 at the
Franklin Skilled Care in Benton. She was born in Condove, Italy on Sept. 12, 1908, the daughter of
Louis and Marietta Vanessa Bruno. On May 30, 1928, she married Stanley Rodville. He died April 17,
1966. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benton. She is survived by: one daughter,
Alberta Wood, Sun City West, Ariz.; three grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren and one sister,
Jean Wisnoski, Buckner. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law Jack Wood, three
brothers, Joe, Ricardo and Americo Bruno and by one sister Ernesta Schragal. Funeral services will be
at 11 a.m. on Monday Nov. 22, at the Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton with the Rev. Father
Donald Lenzini officiating. Entombment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Ill. Friends

Estaleda Rogers, 82, died Saturday, February 5, 1977 at her home in
Ewing. Mrs. Rogers was a retired school teacher. She was a member of the
Christian Church and the Eastern Star of Ewing. She is survived by a
daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Wilson Decker, and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann
Decker, both of Hawaii. She also leaves a brother, Dr. John Stewart,
Ewing; and three sisters: Mrs. Jennie Upchurch and Miss Pauline Stewart,
both of Ewing, and Mrs. Roberta Chubb, Knoxville, TN. Another brother
was Tom Stewart of Ewing. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m.
at the Johnston Funeral Home in Whittington. The Reverend C. J. Ketteman
will officiate. Interment will be in Middle Fork Cemetery.

Paul ROGERS, 57, of Benton died Wednesday Nov. 12, 2003 at Heartland Medical Center,
Marion, Il following a heart attack on Monday.
He was the MAYOR OF BENTON (Just took over in May 2003) He had been Fire Chief for
over 25 years.
Services are Saturday 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church and burial in M & OF Cemetery
in Benton. Visitation will be Friday after 5:30 pm in the Benton Civic Center. A walk
thru by Benton Firefighters and Honor Guard and a prayer service at 8:30 pm. Friday.

Bruno A. Romani, 77, of 601 W. Franklin, died at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20,
1999 in his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, in St. Mary's
Catholic Church, Sesser. Burial, with military graveside rites by the Sesser American
Legion and V.F.W., will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may call to the Brayfield-Gilbert
Funeral Home, Sesser, after 6 this evening at the funeral home. He was the former owner
of Bruno's Restaurant and Lounge in Sesser and also a retired employee of Rend Lake
College. Mr. Romani was born on Dec. 17, 1921 in Sesser, the son of Dante and Rina
(Cassanelli) Romani. He was married to Edna (Basso) Romani. She survives. He was a Marine
Corps veteran of World War II and the battle of Iwo Jima. A member of St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Sesser, he was a member of the Sesser American Legion, the V.F.W. and
AMVETS of Waltonville. In addition to his wife, Edna, he is survived by two sons,
Danny and Frank Romani, both of Sesser; three grandchildren, Mike, Valerie, Kendra;
a sister, Ida Marzotto, South Bend, Ind.; one brother, L. D. Romani of East Alton;
two nephews and three nieces, Gary and John Cavaletto, Sylvia Silkwood, Sharon
Henderson, Gayla Papachriston. He was preceded in death by his parents and one
sister, Gina.

George RONE, 79, of 24297 Little Springs Road, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday,
Nov. 29, 1998, in the Herrin Hospital.

Services for Mrs. Joyce ROWLAND, 512 S. Emma St., will be at

Mrs. ROWLAND died at 5:32 a.m. today in Miners Hospital,
Christopher.
Born March 21, 1903, in Benton, she was the daughter of
Charles and Margaret WESTON MOSLEY. She was member of First
Christian Church of Christ.
In September, 1922, she was married to Carl "Sam" ROWLAND,
who survives.
Also surviving are sons, Kenneth of Christopher, Edward of
Du Quoin and Carl Dean of Springfield; daughters, Mrs.
Delores ROGERS of Christopher and Mrs. Betty PORTER of
Detroit, Mich.; sisters, Mrs. Revia ETTERS and Mrs. Velma
DILLON, both of Chicago; a brother, Geoffrey MOSLEY of
Chicago; and nine grandchildren.
A grandson, Allen ROWLAND, preceded her in death.
Burial will be in Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton.

Tryston Blake Rowland, three months and 27 days old, died in the Cardinal Glennon Hospital, St. Louis,
Mo. on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999. Graveside services will be Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at 11 a.m. in the
Mulkeytown Cemetery, with Brother Dean Guymon officiaing. Burial will be in the Mulkeytown Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The Gilbert Funeral Home Christopher, is in charge of arrangements. He was
born on April 8, 1999 in Carbondale, the son of Michael Rowland Jr. of Christopher and Lindsay Gossett
of Mulkeytown. They survive. Other survivors include grandparents, James and Joan Gossett of Mulkeytown;
Mike and Katie Rowland of Christopher; great-grandparents, Delmar Gossett of Mulkeytown, Ruth Laur,
Waltonville, Joe Laur of Woodlawn, Earl and Louise Parks Marion; Steve and Helen Rowland of Christopher;
great-great-grandmother, Hattie Fairchild of Waltonville; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tryston was
preceded in death by his grandmother, Anna Gossett, great-great-grandfather, Willard Fairchild, and uncle,

Howard D. Rowley, 77, died at the Good Samaritan Regional Health Center at 2:15 p.m.
on Thursday, June 3, 1999. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, in the
Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home, Sesser, with the Revs. Woody Wilson and Eugene
O'Brien officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Full Military rites
will be conducted by the Sesser VFW and American Legion. Friends may call from 6
to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Rowley was born on May 22, 1922, in LaMonte, Mo.,
the son of Wm. Walter and Alta A. (Hoover) Rowley. He was married to Maxine
(Taylor) Rowley on Sept. 19, 1945 in Sesser. She survives. He was a journeyman
mechanic and was employed by the Campbell Soup Company for 42 & 1/2 years. He was
a Christian. He served his country during World War II in the South Pacific Field
Artillery. In addition to his wife, Maxine, he is survived by three sons, Stephen
H. and wife Ann Rowley of Plano, Texas, Bruce E. Rowley and wife Carol of Sesser,
Carl R. Rowley of Tinley Park; two daughters, Janet S. Szczepanski and husband
Michael of Evansville, Ind., Judy A. Peterson of Edmund, Okla.; nine grandchildren;
one great-grandchild; two sisters, Alta M. Kellogg, Winter Haven, Fla., Cora Jane
Angel of Winter Haven, Fla.; one brother, Leo W. Rowley, Hammond, Ind. several
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Mrs William Russell, Sr, of Near Rend City Buried Yesterday.
Funeral services will be held Thurs afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Baptist church at
Rend City for Mrs William Russell, Sr, who passed away Wed afternoon at her home north
of Rend. Rev J R Wagoner of Harrisburg, assisted by Rev Harvey Kimmerl will officiate
and interment will be made in the Masonic and Odd Fellows cemetery with the Mitchell
Funeral Home in charge. Mrs Russell, age 60, had been ill the past year suffering from
a complication of diseases. She was born in West Virginia on May 27, 1875, the daughter
of Charles and Eva Jane Strahin. She had made her home in this county the past 27 years.
In Sept, 1893, she was united in marriage to William Russell, and to this union six children
were born, all of whom, with the husband survive. They are Mrs D E Wood, Chicago; Mrs John
Beck, Hartman, AR; Mrs Ray Henley, Mrs Charles Freeman, and William, Jr, all of Benton. Two
sister, Mrs C W Young and Mrs Homer Sinclair, and five brothers, J F Strahin, B F Strahin,
Roy, A F and Elmer Strahin, all residing in West Virginia, survive.

William Russell, Benton Rfd Three, Dies Yesterday.
William Russell, 72, of Benton Rfd 3 died in Union Hospital at West Frankfort yesterday.
He was born in Scotland March 15,1872, his parents being Robert and Jean Russell. He was
employed at the Valier mine, was a member of the Rend City Baptist church and Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by five children, Wm Russell, Jr, Rfd 3, Benton; Margaret Henley and Agnes
Freeman, both of Benton; Alberta Beck, Coulterville, and Helen Wood, Chicago. Also surviving
is a brother, John Russell, Rochelle, IL and a sister, Agnes Jordan of Ohio. The body will
rest at the Henley home, first house west of Mr Russell's home place on the Rend City Road.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p, Friday at the Rend City Baptist church, Rev Mat King
officiating and burial will be at the Masonic & Odd Fellows cemetery with the Mitchell Funeral

Walter G. Russell, 76, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at the Marion Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Russell was born in Benton on Oct. 25, 1922, to Walter M. and Esther Acord Russell. On Nov. 20,
1951 he married Callie E. Threlkeld and she survives. Mr. Russell was a retired junior high school
teacher. He was an Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Russell was a charter member and deacon of the Immanuel
Baptist Church in Benton. He was also a Bible teacher at Immanuel. Mr. Russell is survived by his wife
Callie E. Russell, Benton; one son, Charles Russell and wife Michelle, Fairhope, Ala.; three grandchildren,
Ashley, Brandon and Brook, Fairhope, Ala. and one sister Lela Wells, Memphis, Tenn. He was preceded in death
by his parents and one sister Gladys Russell. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 13,
at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Benton with the Revs. Roger Ellsworth and Clinton Woodfin officiating.
Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Friends may call after 6 p.m. on Sunday
to the Immanuel Baptist Church and also after 9 a.m. on Monday to the church. For those who wish, memorials
may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church and will be accepted at the church. The Morton and Johnston Funeral

HANNAH RYAN DIES; RITES SET WEDNESDAY
Mrs. Hannah RYAN, 83, 708 E. Main St., Christopher, died at
8:44 p.m. Saturday in Miners Hospital, where she had been a
patient six days.
Mrs. RYAN was born in Pennsylvania Aug 29, 1876. Her parents
were the late Mr. and Mrs. John MOORE. Her husband David
died in September, 1918.
Mrs. RYAN had been a Franklin county resident 45 years.
She leaves children John of Chicago; David and Patrick, both
of Christopher, Leroy of Three Rivers, Mich., Mrs. Elizabeth
SIMPSON and Mrs. Susan BERGLUND, both of Homewood, Mrs.
Barbara APPINO and Mrs. Elouise JURICH, both of Christopher,
Mrs. Margaret MERZ of Chicago, 13 grandchildren and 17
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Russell
funeral Home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. today. The
Rev. W. D. BERRY, Christopher First Baptist Church pastor,
will officiate. Burial will be in Harrison, east of
Christopher.
