Hillview School
Greene County, Illinois

Submitted by George R Boyden
The school photo was taken in Sept 1907.
E. C. Pitts was the principal. He is standing on the far left of the photo, easy to identify as he is the only
adult man in the Photo. My mother Rella M Clinard is standing on the back row, the top of her head is at the middle
of second window, left hand corner of the window. To her left, the right as one looks at the photo, are two teachers,
the second one has her hair up in a knot. At very end of the photo, opposite of the side from E. C. Pitt, is another
teacher. Mom told me years ago what her name was, maybe 50 years ago, and I cannot remember her name.
My mother (1891-1974) was born near Pearl, Her father was George Washington Clinard, a farmer at that time in Athensville
Twp.
Her mother was Martha Ann Colvin, a Pike County woman.
