Betty
Jane Furry, 85, of Shelbyville, was surrounded
by her family when she went to meet the Lord
at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008 in the
Extended Care Facility at Shelby Memorial
Hospital.
Funeral
services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in
Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with
Rev. Kevin Ray and Gary Crowder officiating.
Visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday. Burial
will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.
Memorials may be given to the Multiple
Sclerosis Foundation.
Mrs.
Furry was born on November 4, 1922 in St.
Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Rue and Sarah
Jane Moore Roberts. She graduated from
Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1940.
She owned and operated the Shelbyville
Greeting Service for 47 years and also worked
in sales at the Shirley Shop in Shelbyville
retiring in 1974. Betty was a member of the
First Christian Church of Shelbyville. She
enjoyed playing Bunco and Rummy with the
girls. She married Joel Fletcher
"Joe" Furry, Jr. in 1942. He died on
May 8, 1995.
Surviving
are her daughters, Judy Young and husband Gary
of Shelbyville and Sue Dyer and husband Jim of
Jacksonville; brother, David Roberts of
Rosiclare, Illinois; grandchildren, Diana
Litteral of Shelbyville, Michael Young of
Centralia and Patrick Young of Springfield;
and great grandchildren, Michael Litteral
stationed at Kosovo, Brian Litteral of
Shelbyville, Danielle and Nicholas Young both
of Shelbyville and Joel Young of Centralia.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; and
husband, Joe.
