Fox
Ridge--People on the Ridge are finishing laying by
corn. Miss
Rada Gross has been visiting Mrs. Stella Hambrink of
Rosiclare the past week. Several
of the people from on the Ridge attended the Sunday
School Convention and report a grand time was
had. We take particular notice that John Ginger
has been going down Fox Hollow so often. Wonder
what the attraction is? James B. Ginger made a
flying trip to Evansville last week. Several of
the people from on the Ridge attended the ice cream
supper at Milo Jones' Saturday night and report a very
nice time. Thurston Patton and family spent
Sunday with Mrs. Patton's parents, Rufus Reed and
family. Bert Ingram purchased a bunch of hogs
from Clarence Love one day last week. SHAKY
Tower
Rock--We were glad to see the rain which fell today
(Monday). Mrs. Josie McFall and son were guests
of Mrs. Wallace Sunday. Ed Wall made a business
trip to his farm Monday. Homer Porter and family
were guests of her mother, Mrs. Belt, Sunday.
Mrs. Jonas Riley was the guest of Mrs. Mattie Hurford
Sunday. C. L. Humphrey, wife and daughter,
Mildred, were guests of Allen Belt and family
Sunday. Miss Metta Frailey was a guest of Addie
Riley Sunday night. Walter Smith and family were
the guests of Mrs. Ruthy Boyd from Sunday until
Monday. Mrs. C. L. Humphrey and family visited
Ed Humphrey and family of Tolu, Ky., from Thursday
until Saturday.
Karbers
Ridge--Remember Bro. Clayton's appointment here next
Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. A. A. Ferrell and
family of Ridgeway visited in the county a few days
last week. Mrs. J. W. Waggoner will leave the
first of the week for Chicago where she will visit her
sister and children. Mrs. Fred Giintert and
children of Eldorado are here visiting old time
friends and relatives. Charley Pilot was shot in
the breast one day last week by some unknown party,
his would don't seem to be serious. Mrs. Etta
Williaims and children of Eldorado are here taking a
vacation with her mother, Mrs. Sarah Shipp, and other
relatives and friends in the county.
Items
from Anywhere--J. G. Gullett lost a fine lot of clover
hay, and some timothy hap, during the late big
rain. We were glad to meet and greet Dr. Joel
Hart here last week, who is now located at Karbers
Ridge. We had not seen him for several
years. Dr. Everette Knight and a Miss Bell, a
trained nurse from Indianapolis, Ind., were guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Rose Tuesday of last week.
E. A. Knight and wife of Rosiclare, accompanied by
Mrs. Knight's parent, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wood of West
Frankfort, Ill., drove up Sunday afternoon and made
our folks a pleasant brief call. Mrs. Belle
Holbrook and two youngest children, accompanied Rev.
Oscar Weaver and wife to church in Kentucky, opposite
Metropolis, Ill, last Sunday. Otto Holbrook, who
is at work for the Bridge Co. at Karnak, Ill., met
them there and saw his wife and babies. An old
time friend, Elbert Dossett who is here from
California called to see us last week, but we happened
to be out in town and failed to see him then or later,
to our regret. He is a brother to the late Ile
F. and George Dossett of the upper end of this county
and formerly lived there himself. Mrs. Edw.
Ferrell of Rosiclare and children, Julian and Miss
Mildred, and Mrs. Harland Inman of Herrin, Ill., were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Pritchard Wednesday of
last week. Asa Reynolds and wife and J. A. Love
and family, and perhaps others from here, attended the
S. S. convention at Rock Creek last Sunday.
