Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Young of Rosiclare were announcing
the birth of a son, Donald Dennis, on February 2 at
Rosiclare Hospital.
Ad\
daughter was born on February 4 to Mr. and Mrs. Hollie
Robertson who live near St. Joseph.
The
Southern Fluorspar Company was drilling on Frank
Cowsert's place. The company had struck spar
when drilling on Louis Gulsby's place and a shaft was
being sunk there.
"Honky
Tonk" starring Clark Gable and Lana Turner was
showing at the Capitol Theatre in Rosiclare.
Gene
Autry and Smiley Burnett were starring in "Sierra
Sue" at the Ohio Theatre, Cave In Rock.
A
daughter, Jeanette Kay, was born on February 6 at
Rosiclare Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Jackson of
Rosiclare.
Mr.
and Mrs. Raleigh English were announcing the birth of
a daughter, Lois Bernadean at home on February 1.
Herbert
H. Ledbetter was advertising a Radiotrician business
in Elizabethtown.
A
daughter, Betty Lou, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jesse
Kenney on February 16.
Mr.
and Mrs. Clyde Schutt of Hickstown were announcing the
birth of a son on Lincoln's birthday, February 12.
Brenda
Kay was born to Maxine and Hershel Walker of Rosiclare
on February 7.
Announcement
was being made last week in Cape Girardeau, MO of the
marriage of Reva Bell, daughter of Mrs. Laura Smith of
Elizabethtown and Coy White, son of Jim White of
Elizabethtown.
Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Kaegi of Cave In Rock were announcing
the marriage of their daughter, Cornelia, to Robert
Paradee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Paradee of
Columbus, KS.
According
to Forest Ranger W. D. Giffen, all primary lookout
towers on the Shawnee National Forest had been closed
to visitors for the duration of the war. This
action was necessary to minimize the opportunity for
sabotage in view of an order of the Defense
Communications Board. Some of the towers were to
be integrated with aircraft warning service.
Mr.
and Mrs. Orval Berry were announcing the birth of a
son in the Rosiclare Hospital on February 24.
Mr.
and Mrs. Wiley Vinyard of Karber's Ridge were also
celebrating the birth of a son on the 24th.
