Ray
Keeling, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Keeling, and Virgie
Riggs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Riggs, were
married on May 28 at the bride’s home in Cave In
Rock. Mr. Keeling courted his sweetheart, riding to
her house on horseback or in a buggy. They had six
children. He was a spar miner and she was a homemaker.
A
daughter, Theresa Elaine, was born on May 24 at the
hospital in Rosiclare to Mr. and Mrs. Duward Spees.

Leslie
Gene was born on May 19 at Hardin County General
Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Otto Keeton, Jr.
Andrew
Foster was advertising his shoe shop for sale in
Rosiclare.
Zane
Grey’s “Sunset Pass” was showing at the Ohio
Theatre in Cave In Rock starring James Warren, Jane
Greer, and Steve Brodie.

Forty
people were baptized in the Ohio River on the river
front of Elizabethtown on Sunday, May 29. A basket
dinner preceded the baptisms. Pastors were Thomas
Guest, Dorrisville; Clifford Bennett, Eldorado; Harry
and Roy Carr, Golconda and Union.
Pvt.
Bobbie D. Brazell, son of Mrs. Cora L. Brazell,
Rosiclare, was stationed in Germany and assigned to
the Berlin Command.
Maurice
Rendleman in the Navy had served around Formoas but
was then transferred to a base in San Diego, CA.
Carolyn
Lee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Young,
Elizabethtown, became engaged to Walter Lee, son of
Mrs. Clarence, Lee, Rosiclare.
Alfred
Hitchcock’s “Rear Window” starring James Stewart
was showing at the Capitol Theatre, Rosiclare.
The
Elizabethtown Ranger District held an open house
commemorating the Golden Anniversary of the United
States Forest Service. Ranger Marvin Marshall put
together some exhibits. Forest Supervisor and Mrs. E.
N. Lee of Harrisburg attended among other guests.
A
son, James Elmer, was born on May 14 at the Rosiclare
hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dixon of Cave In Rock.
Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon Davis of Elizabethtown announced the
birth of a son, David Michael, on May 13 at Hardin
County General Hospital.
Danny
Kaye was the star of the movie, “Knock On Wood”
showing at the Harrisburg Drive-In Theatre.
