L. D. Taylor

L. D. Taylor, 78, of Golconda, died 3:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Hardin County General Hospital, Rosiclare, IL.

L. D. was born January 22, 1928 at Raum community, Pope County, Illinois to Lowell and Maude (Gullett) Taylor.  He married Dorothy Wise on February 26, 1949.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Golconda; five daughters, Louise Hirsch of Atlanta, GA, Mary (Tiny) Walker of Denham Springs, LA, Linda and husband Glen Hillin of Robert Park, CA, Sandy (Sam) and husband Bob Strauss of Algonquin, IL, JoAnne (Bo) and husband Larry Smagacz of Medinah, IL; one sister Lila Lee and husband Charles Schrader of Batavia, IL; 14 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson and a son-in-law.

L. D. was a member of the First Baptist Church of Golconda.  He was a member of the Golconda Masonic Lodge #131, and Ainad Shriners AAONMS of East St. Louis.  He was very active in the community.  He worked as a dispatcher for Pope and Hardin County Sheriff's Office.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at First Baptist Church Golconda, officiated by Rev. Paul Sadler, and Rev. Troy Johnston.  Burial was in the New Liberty Cemetery, Eddyville.
