J. H. Slater is fitting up the old warehouse for an elevator and storehouse. This will give as two elevators and more opposition in the grain trade.
One of our saloon keepers "Little Bob Bice" was fined by one of our magistrates, $100 and costs for selling liquor to minors. Served him right.
Our school is in a most flourishing condition under the skillful management of Mr. Hawes. He will no doubt be retained in his present position as long as it is possible to keep him.
Whooping cough is at present very prevalent among the children. Several quite severe cases have occurred.
Mrs. J. P. Paine has been quite sick for some little time; but is now getting better.
The Dramatic Entertainment given for the benefit of the Cornet Band, was a success both as an entertainment and financially. The boys received enough to cancel their indebtedness and are consequently happy.
Despite the horrid condition of the roads a great amount of livestock has been shipped from this place this winter. It is hoped he will be here next season.
Prof. Tower is conducting a singing class in the M. E. Church.
