NEW RECORD ESTABLISHED All previous records for marriage at advanced ages were broken Saturday morning when a license was issued to Dr. Fredrick Thernistocles Van Bourghen Galen, age 82. The bride to be is Mrs. Kathrine Hickom who modestly confesses to 73 years. Mrs. Hickom resides on a farm four miles southwest of the village of Pomona. She has been a widow for several years, and is the mother of several children. Dr. Galen has boarded at the Hickom home for many years. He has been an active practitioner of that locality for more than a generation, and has been a widower for more than eight years. The post office address of the happy old couple is Alto Pass. The marriage of Dr. Galen and Mrs. Hickom breaks the age limit established last Saturday when a license was issued for the marriage of John W. McMurray, aged 78, of Herrin, and Mrs. Eveline Miller, aged 65, of DuQuoin.—Republican -Era.
