NOTES His parents came from Germany.  Conrad studied medicine in PA.  In 1813 visited Kaskaskia, then decided to move to IL, 4 miles south of Murphysboro.  He manufactured salt & practiced medicine.  1816 went to PA to get 30 cast iron kettles for salt making.  Helped to organize the county & establish Brownsville
