Laura O'Brien formerly Vaughn a minor of Carbondale, Ill in order to obtain the Pension provided by acts of Congress
granting Pension to Minors that she is the minor of David Vaughn who enlisted at Vienna, Illinois on the 31 January
1862 in CO. C 60 Ill Vols., in the war of 1861-65 who died in Jackson County Illinois on the 7 day of April 1875
who bore at the time of his death the rank of Pvt. That he left a widow surviving him who died. That she was married
under the name of Melvina Travelstead to said David Vaughn on the 16 day of September 1858 by I. Blanchard, JP,
at Jackson County Illinois. That there being no legal barrier to such marriage as his first wife died; that the
names and dates of birth of all his legitimate children yet surviving who were under sixteen years of age at the
fathers death. viz.:

Oliver Vaughn born 4 May 1870
Van Buren Vaughn born 19 Oct. 1973
No prior application has been filed and she appoints with full power of substitution and revocation John Q. A.
Kimmel of Murphysboro, Ill her attorney to prosecute the above claim. That her post office address is Carbondale,
Jackson Co. Ill. Dated, 29 Dec. 1890
