"A Stroll in the Cemeteries"
As we turn aside from the busy cares of life and mingle with the friends we love to associate with, our fellow beings, we are caused to remember those of other days. We wander away to the Brockville burying ground, one of the oldest in the eastern part of the county, thinking that we may interest some of your many readers by giving the names of a few of the many good people who are interred there. The first persons buried there were the wife and child of John Bartley, about the year 1848. These graves are not marked. We omit most of the children only giving the names of those whom from the inscriptions are supposed to have friends or relatives in the county.
